The Boy Scouts of America announced that it would be capitulating to the “nothing means anything” cultural devolution being wrought by American progressives by letting girls into the organization, despite the fact that girls have their own scouting organization.
From The New York Times:
The Boy Scouts of America announced plans on Wednesday to broadly accept girls, marking a historic shift for the century-old organization and setting off a debate about where girls better learn how to be leaders.
The Boy Scouts, which has seen dwindling membership numbers in recent decades, said that its programs could nurture girls as well as boys, and that the switch would make life easier for busy parents, who might prefer to shuttle children to a single organization regardless of gender.
“I’ve seen nothing that develops leadership skills and discipline like this organization,” said Randall Stephenson, the group’s national board chairman. “It is time to make these outstanding leadership development programs available to girls.”
They can say this is about dwindling membership, but the private organization has been yielding to demands from the left to make a laundry list of changes it didn’t want to make.
There is one group that isn’t too thrilled with the announcement-the Girl Scouts:
The decision was celebrated by many women, but criticized by the Girl Scouts, which said that girls flourish in all-female groups.
“We’ve had 105 years of supporting girls and a girl-only safe space,” said Lisa Margosian, chief customer officer for the Girl Scouts, who added that the organization felt “blindsided” by the announcement. “So much of a girl’s life is a life where she is in a coed environment, and we have so much research and data that suggests that girls really thrive in an environment where they can experiment, take risk and stretch themselves in the company of other girls.”
Here’s a response to the news from a former Girl Scout:
As a GS myself… I ask, why merge the sexes in Boy Scouts? We are STRONG females. We can do what boys can do but better 🙂 #ladiesstandup pic.twitter.com/W7KMkdBOJf

Given those kinds of reactions, the Boy Scouts’ move seems unnecessary. The group, however, has been under assault as an institution for so long that it is probably to the point where it feels the need to capitulate even before it has to do so.
All-male groups have been under siege in the leftist culture war for years now, even the ones that are just filled with boys. In the eye of the social justice crowd, the maleness is an unforgivable transgression that must be assailed until it’s unrecognizable.
Progressives have been fighting the culture wars practically unabated for years now, with a generous assist from their advocates in the news and entertainment media.
Fortunately, the other side has an advocate now in President Trump. His unfiltered railing against things the left holds most dear like the MSM and Social Justice Warriors provides the right with a fearless political weapon it hasn’t had.
A prime example is the recent controversy over the NFL anthem protests. When the president first commented on them, the players responded by staging team-wide protests in response to him. The media then spent days smirking and patting themselves on the back and mocking Trump, saying that his remarks had backfired on him.
Once again, the president was reading the public and the media was reading…the media.
Two and half weeks later, the NFL and commissioner Roger Goodell are moving in the direction making standing during the national anthem mandatory for the players.
In short, Trump won.
Most Republican politicians have no stomach for any fight, as we’ve seen in the recent health care debacles. They’ve been particularly week in the culture wars, largely because they live in constant fear of being spoken ill of in the media.
President Trump doesn’t let that keep him up at night.
That’s the key to winning these battles.
