If only the Islamic terrorists that struck Barcelona last week had mounted a Confederate flag on the white Fiat van they used to slaughter fifteen innocent people, including a seven-year-old boy from the UK and a 42-year-old American man on his first trip to Europe. We might be seeing the formation of a modern day Lincoln Brigade to fight fascism in Europe, just as they combatted the forces of General Francisco Franco during the Spanish Civil War.
But, of course, the American left, in the form of Antifa and the mainstream media that whitewashes and downplays their many acts of violence, are fascists and fascist sympathizers themselves.
Their worldview is one in which Islam is a religion of peace while other Americans – Trump voters, the wealthy, white males, and the states that form the old Confederacy – are the kernel of modern evil.
Observe their obvious resentment last week, just as public mania over white supremacy (their preferred narrative) reached fever pitch, when yet another group of Moroccan Muslims slaughtered people on the streets of Europe and forced the mainstream media to change their hysterical saturation coverage of Charlottesville to the depressingly familiar topic of Islamic terrorism.
The CNN hack Wolf Blitzer was so flustered that he named the vehicle attack in Virginia as the inspiration for the Barcelona attack saying “there will be questions if what happened in Barcelona was at all a copycat version of what happened in Charlottesville.” Is Blitzer really ignorant of the multiple Islamic terrorist attacks over the last twelve months using trucks that have resulted in hundreds of deaths in Nice, Berlin, Stockholm, and London? Of course not. But acknowledging that would have been “Islamophobic” and an unhelpful distraction from the leftwing media’s singular obsession of establishing that all Trump voters are racist white supremacists.
All this makes it obvious that the leftwing media has no intention of reporting accurately and fairly about the current violent upheavals on both the far left and far right in American politics. Neo-Nazis will get all the press coverage while black bloc anarchists and communists will be described as “counter-protesters.” Their photojournalists will zoom in on Nazi flags but keep their lens caps on in the presence of the old Soviet hammer-and-sickle standard. To call it “fake news” would not be accurate. It’s propaganda.
