News is out this morning that Tim Tebow has signed a minor league contract with the New York Mets. I’m glad TT is getting a shot at baseball, though at his age and as long as baseball skills take to refine, it’s certainly a long shot. (And were Tebow not such a counter-cultural straight arrow he would still be performing where he belongs, in the NFL) But why does Tebow’s agent keep signing him in towns like New York and Philadelphia where he doesn’t fit in culturally. I’m sure the folks who buy the tickets would find Tebow much more cuddly in places like Atlanta, Tampa, Texas, Houston, St. Louis, KC. Heck, even San Diego.
Citi Field, with the fuggedaboutits that gather there, is a tough yard for anyone. Doubly so for a Tim Tebow. If TT goes 0 for 4 in his first game as a September call-up next year, they’ll be booing him in his second game. Will Tebow be flushed again in Flushing? And can you sue an agent for malpractice?
