Thoughts on The Trump Campaign Shake Up

The fact that Donald Trump has tapped Steve Bannon of Breitbart to take over his presidential campaign (along with Kellyanne Conway) is quite telling.

I think it is fair to say that no one is more enthusiastic about Trump than the folks at Breitbart, even more so than our own Jeff Lord (and that is truly saying something). What this tells me is that Trump doesn’t want to hear the word “no.”

Now I’m not trying to sing the praises of Paul Manafort by any stretch of the imagination. Manafort’s ties to Viktor Yanukovych, the former pro-Russian President of Ukraine, has effectively turned Trump into a lieutenant for Vladimir Putin. Yet with that said, Manafort did try to reign in Trump’s excesses and tone him down for a general election audience. That meant telling Donald Trump “no”. But outside of his children (mostly Ivanka), Trump doesn’t hear the word no.

So Trump needs a yes man. Trump needs to be told how great his new suit is even if he isn’t wearing so much as a loincloth. In which case, Bannon is the right man for the job.

In which case, Hillary Clinton’s smile just got that much wider.
