Justice Alito drew heavy criticism after registering the tiniest bit of human emotion during last year’s speech, when Barack Obama falsely accused the Supreme Court of reversing “a century of law to open the floodgates for special interests — including foreign contributions — to spend without limit in our elections,” referring to the Citizens United decision, in which Alito voted with the 5-4 majority.
