Joe: I think Goldberg is onto something regarding Governor Pawlenty, who I’ve often rooted for, via this magazine. Towards the end, he was out-charmed and perhaps equally, out-spent (though lack of funds was the lesser story, it’s still integral). It’s also why I made the case via The Atlantic a couple months ago that GOP contenders should spend fewer resources in one place–Iowa–and spread their own wealth, time, and media around. Perhaps if Pawlenty had done that, we’d still be listening to his no-nonsense thoughts on spending and hockey.
