Romney showed a subtle and deep knowledge of Congress’ role in oversight. He didn’t win audience points like Gingrich did, but he was far more on target substantively, and far more responsible.
Santorum, meanwhile, was right to claim leadership on this issue. He has led on this issue more than anybody in the GOP Senate with the possible exception of Jeff Sessions. I know this stuff intimately; it has been my stock in trade. Santorum bled for the cause on this.
