TAMPA– Sunday Tampa Bay Rays pitcher James Shields threw a two-hit shutout against the Texas Rangers, the best hitting team in the bigs. Not to be outdone, Rays center fielder B.J. Upton hit three home runs in the Rays’ 6-0 win. So who wins player-of-the-game?

What a nice problem for the Rays, just two games behind the Evil Empire (aka the New York Yankees) in the AL East. All this put me in a good frame of mind before confirming last night that Peyton Manning’s arm, neck, and football mind are in fine shape to start the gladiatorial season.
