A few weeks ago, I began watching The Man from U.N.C.L.E. co-starring Robert Vaughn and David McCallum. I had never seen it before. It’s amazing to me that the old doctor on N.C.I.S. was in his day as popular with the ladies as The Beatles. The show may have aired 50 years ago, but it’s like something brand new to me. The hell with The Walking Dead. I’ll take The Man from U.N.C.L.E. any day of the week.
One of the charms of watching these old shows is seeing the guest stars before they became famous. The opening credits of the episode I watched last night said “Special Guest Star: William Shatner.”
Cool. But minutes later who should I see on the screen but Leonard Nimoy. Me and my roommate Christopher had our minds blown.
Shatner and Nimoy on screen together pre-U.S.S. Enterprise. Out of this world. Shatner played a brilliant scientist while Nimoy played a bumbling Russian diplomat. For good measure, Werner Klemperer of Hogan’s Heroes fame also guest starred.
This morning I bumped into a hardcore Trekkie outside of Dunkin’ Donuts and told her about this and she was absolutely amazed.
Now it’s your turn to go where you never thought you would go before. Watch and enjoy.
