Jim noted the Romney camp’s response to Rudy Giuliani’s erroneous assertion that violent crime went up when Romney was governor. It’s worth also noting that the Romney press release not only disputes Giuliani on the crime issue — it also notes a bunch of other factual errors that Giuliani has made over the past several months. Romney’s opposition research team has obviously been saving this stuff for the right moment. The gloves have come off, and the Rudy/Mitt brawl has begun in earnest.
Related: Massachusetts prosecutor Tim Cruz tout’s Romney’s crime-fighting record at NRO. I’m assuming the Romney campaign put Cruz up to that. (Cruz doesn’t mention the Giuliani attack, even though it’s obviously the reason he’s piping up now.)
