Happy Birthday, Mr. Presidents
Some of you seemed irked that we gave insufficient coverage to our president's All-Star Game pitch. Relax, please. We advise patience. It is a virtue, after all. Which in turn is its own reward. We're now happy to confirm that, after a turbulent three-week 60-foot, six-inch flight, the president's historic toss has finally arrived at home plate. Didn't exactly cross it so much as trickle over it, pushed along on its final leg by some eager-beaver ants, who were grateful for the work. Having checked with Rahm Emanuel, they credit the stimulus package for their unanticipated burst of speed.
What a nice birthday gift for our president. There were other presents. Visiting businessmen wouldn't let him pay for lunch. Helen Thomas accepted a free cupcake. The Cambridge Police didn't card or arrest him. And the starstruck New York Times confirmed it's in the habit of doodling his name. In the paper's crossword yesterday, the clue for 71-Across read: "President born on August 4, whose name can be found backward in 17-, 31-, 47- and 63-Across." We don't make this stuff up. How could we? We've never been in love like that.
Here are the winning entries: 17: Dreamabout. 31: Pajamabottoms. 47: Alabamaborder. And 63: Beamaboard. We suspect something else is going on -- Obama spelled backward could resolve the birth certificate contretemps. Have investigators been sniffing after the wrong surname? What if it is actually Amabo? Forget Kenya. He's owned by Hugo Chavez's Venezuela.
But how sad that Kenya is out of the running. We rather liked the notion that Mr. Obama might be a British subject, and as such a future prime minister of Great Britain and regular visitor to the British Museum. Never too late to improve one's Marx!
Not to spoil the party, but can it be a presidential birthday without major participation by the original August birthday boy? Bill Clinton has resurfaced just in time. Though his birth date is August 19, it used to be that nearly the entire month was set aside for celebrations of his aging process, as if it had taken as long for him to achieve birth as it had that all-star pitch to land in St. Louis. As often as not, his entire summer vacation was a endless string of birthday parties on Martha's Vineyard. Lots of beautiful people would bow to him, and he sailed with Walter Cronkite, who provided more anchor than his boat required.
Bill and Walter had much in common. We learned from Tom Brokaw's recent farewell to him that Walter was a big fan and friend of the The Grateful Dead's drummer (which makes you wonder what was in the pipe he innocently smoked). As it happens, Bill is a fan of his brother Roger, who is no mean rocker himself, as we discovered when he took his band into North Korea in 1999. (His hosts even wrote some of his lyrics: "I have received a message of peace from Pyongyang, which I will correctly convey to our people," he was quoted as crooning.) Roger was also skilled in the pardons game, and his advance work came in handy on Mr. Obama's birthday. Hillary was unavailable, so Obama sent in the boy to do the man's work. Bill Clinton traveled into North Korea unescorted and emerged with pardons for two American journalists held hostage by the NK regime. Perhaps he was doing this to embarrass Al Gore, who had abandoned the two journalists, or maybe he just wanted to meet them. They were reportedly women, if you must know.
What we can't understand is the dour look on Mr. Clinton's face on the release of the two women. After all, the three of them would be flying back on the same plane. Maybe he was worried about how he'd explain it all to Hillary, or to Jesse Jackson, whose monopoly it once was to lead such rescue missions. Or maybe he simply felt used and ashamed of himself. According to his NK hosts, "Clinton expressed words of sincere apology to Kim Jong Il for the hostile acts committed by the two American journalists." Not even Kenneth Starr dared put words like that in his mouth.

Kenya is very much IN the running. Hillary celebrated Obama's birthday by visiting the land of his birth.
In 1961, his parents were college students living in Hawaii, and were on vacation for the summer in Kenya, visiting his family. That's perfectly normal. After all, they had been married in February 1961, and she had never met his family.
While in Kenya, she discovered that he was already married and had two children by his other wife (to whom he would return and have two more). It is likely that he returned to the US before she did. They were enrolled in separate schools. He was at the University of Hawaii and she was at the University of Washington in Seattle.
Also, her pregnancy had advanced to the point where a long air journey back to Hawaii might have been very difficult, so, quite reasonably, she decided to have the baby in Kenya.
Also, quite reasonably, Ann Dunham Obama probably sent a telegram to her husband and/or parents - who were in Hawaii - saying "It's a boy" and giving the date, and quite probably it was the husband or grandparents who placed the advertisement in the newspapers, again a perfectly normal thing to do, given that they were living in Hawaii.
It's not just that he's ineligible to hold the office of president. It's that the Democrats as a whole know - and have always known - this for a fact and have perpetrated a deliberate and malicious fraud on the American people.

You know, Steve Myers, many conservatives on this site and elsewhere are far too eager to disassociate themselves from the whole derogatorily-termed "birther" movement.
And it is true that too many conservatives demanding investigation tend to froth at the mouth, lending little gravitas to the contention that Obama was not born in America.
Unfortunately, some of the "reporting" here and elsewhere on this topic, in which journalists of high self-regard grasp the issue tenuously and at arm's length while ostentatiously holding their noses - to the extent they report on it at all - does the truth a disservice.
The "case closed" argument that the birth announcement appeared in newspapers is risible on its face; surely, the lack of a birth certificate trumps that "fact." I confess I haven't followed this issue that closely, but if Obama were a Republican, there's be would-be Woodwards and Bernsteins crawling all over Hawaii like ants on a sugar cube, and conservatives would shrug their shoulders and nod compliantly. That's what galls me.
The "birthers" should not be dismissed out of hand as whack jobs, and when folks employ a reasoned tone, as you have, they simply express the reasonable desire for light in an environment where there's way too much heat.
The quest is quixotic, of course. It's one of those topics that will never gain traction and certainly won't budge Obama from his incipient dictatorship.
But whenever a politician refuses to produce records, there are always reasons - reasons which seldom accrue to the benefit of the reticent one in question. The fact is, great swaths of Obama's past are shrouded in an opacity about which the mainstream media is glaringly incurious. This is not an accident or a coincidence.
Just as Kerry's lack of a military record lent credence to the derogatorily-named "swiftboaters," where there is smoke, it ought to be of interest to reporters of every stripe to determine if, just maybe, that smoke might be associated with a fire.
And yeah, Bush's lack of copious documentation with respect to his National Guard service was also a problem.
I'm beginning to think Obama's very existence is a lie; maybe he's the physical manifestation of dark underbelly of the increasingly self-loathing American psyche. And in a way, it's true; Obama is an empty vessel. It is we who have poured significance into, to our eternal shame as a nation.

It's no surprise that Hillary Clinton just went to Kenya to reinforce the cover-up.
I still want answers. Obummer, put up or get out!!!! All he has to do is make the following official public statement,
"I Barack Obama authorize the State of Hawaii to release and make public all of my records on file."
That's it. Issue over. But he won't because he's a fraud!! Obama knows that millions of citizens want to see it yet he continues to hide it. What/why is he hiding? and most disturbingly, why don't BHO's supporters want to know the whole truth, especially since there's a reward of $100,000 for proof that Obama is a "natural born" citizen of the United States.

Fact Check, snopes, fight the smears are not fact checking agencies. They just repeat others so called facts!. Example, most of these quoted fact checking organizations recently "changed their facts" in regards to Obama's hospital of birth. They even went as far as to scrub the internet archive of any references to their "old facts".
Obama has in fact stated in his own words in writing, that he in fact born in two different hospitals. (his book said one hospital, and his recent letter stated another) Stop the name calling and look at the obvious. Show the info that has been requested instead of wasting all this hot air trying to change the issue. Long form shows who was present, where it happened and the time it happened. Lets keep the conversation straight. The Obama sheeple will never accept anything as truth, not the other way around as admitting he is not who he is will ruin the fantasy they have been living under.
Let the spell and grammar checkers start bashing as well as the name callers.
Nothing released has officially stated what hospital, who delivered and who was present at his birth. Its a fact and name calling wont' change it.
A majority want to know, just check the polls, so its not a birther, right wing argument. A life long democrat started this debate, not the so called right wing birthers!

I know some of us are trying to uncover that he was born in another country for impeachment purposes but it won't happen. Hawaii already vouched for him. Sadly enough we are just pissing in the wind. We are actually being ridiculed in the media for this and I implore my fellow republicans to stop this madness. Again we need to focus our goal on stopping the health care plan. The Cuban-American New Jersey lawmaker said "maybe less than 10" of the chamber's 40 Republicans will vote to confirm the 55-year-old appeals court judge, who was poised to become the first Hispanic and third woman on the US Supreme Court. Sotomayor is the daughter of migrants from Puerto Rico.
Democrats have, at least on paper, the 60 votes needed to land her the lifetime appointment, and a handful of Republicans have said they will join them, leading to expectations she will be confirmed this week before lawmakers leave for a month-long recess.

Snopes is a tool I frequently use to debunk a lot of stuff that hits my inbox from various ignoramuses. Check the Obama passport/Pakistan trip issue on Snopes. The most telling sentence is the last one (emphasis added):
"In short, if Barack Obama did visit Pakistan in the summer of 1981, he - like all other Americans - COULD have openly done so bearing a U.S. passport.
If he produced a valid long form birth certificate, bearing an embossed seal, from any American legal jurisdiction to get a passport, why in blazes will he not produce it again?

"Pre-existing conditions"? How about asking for car insurance after the accident? How about asking for flood or earthquake insurance after the flood or after the earthquake? A fellow who for 30 years of being without health insurance finds one day he has cancer and then wants health insurance? The present value of not paying $3,000/year for health insurance is worth about one million dollars after 30 years; and it is irrelevant whether he invested his "savings" in the stock market or just drank the money up. I for one do not want to see my premiums go up because of that irresponsible moron.

WASHINGTON – Senators have reached a deal on saving the dwindling "cash for clunkers" program, agreeing to vote Thursday on adding $2 billion to the popular rebate plan.
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid announced the vote after lengthy negotiations between Democratic and Republican lawmakers on Wednesday. Reid has said Democrats have enough votes to pass the bill, meaning consumers could take advantage of the rebates of up to $4,500 until Labor Day.

As for voting against Sotomayor Hisapanics are not African-Americans and wedded to group think. Next year Tejanos wanting be worrying about how people voted for a New Yorker of Puerto Rican descent. Nor will Cuban-Americans or Chicanos, etc. like the majority of Americans they're going to be voting to restore American prosperity and jobs something Obama Democrats are killing every day they control Congress.
As far as Clinton getting the North Koreans to free the "journalists" word is he begged and apologized to the North Koreans who he helped arm with nuclear weapons. One wonders if in our our face to face negotiations with them in the future will Obama improve on the nuclear arsenal Clinton inspired.
Finally, how much taxpayer money was wasted freeing these "journalists?" Obama could have left them to serve their prison sentences where a type of "Obamacare" is the right of North Koreans and saved that money to help "pay" for his vaunted "health care" program. Democrats have got to start saving those "pennies and dimes" to get what they want.

This recent North Korea escapade flunks the smell test. I smell a rat namely two Little Rock plague carrying rats. In the previous generation an ambitious Secretary of State takes advantage of an international incident seizes his opportunity and starts calling the shots thinking he is the Commander-In-Chief in lieu of a struggling President and non-existent VEEP (literally then, figuratively now). History once again repeats itself.
