While Rubio Struggled, Hillary Clinton Spent $200K Per Month on Hamptons Summer Home
by

As has been made clear over the last few days, Marco Rubio is simply too poor to be President. His stubborn failure to suddenly re-manifest as a lily-white septugenarian plutocrat may cost him the highest office in the land.

For Hillary Clinton, however, being richer than God is proving no problem at all. With an estimated net worth of $100 to 200 million, Hillary Clinton should obviously be making ends meet, and unlike Marco Rubio, without the aid of her book deals (though those have undoubtedly helped). At an average of $200,000 per speaking engagement, she was clearly earning more than enough to afford the finer things. And while the New York Times frets over a fishing boat, it turns out that Hillary Clinton has had seaside adventures of her own, in a lovely summer home in the Hamptons — a rental that costs a whopping $200,000 per month.

Bill and Hillary Clinton are known to own two homes — one in Washington, D.C., where Clinton did her interview with Sawyer, and another in Chappaqua, New York — in addition to an apartment in Manhattan.

The colonial style Chappaqua, New York, home has five bedrooms and takes up 5,200 sq ft.

Their three story, 5,152 sq ft home in Washington, D.C. has four bedrooms, six bathrooms, two half bathrooms and a basement. The average home in their neighborhood is valued at $6,586,000, according to real estate website Trulia.

The Clintons have spent their past three summers at homes they rented out in the Hamptons.

Bill and Hillary reportedly paid $200,000 a [month]* to rent out the six bedroom Sagaponak mansion of former senior managing director at Bear, Stearns & Co and Republican donor Michael Saperstein last summer. The property is valued at $11 million.

That’s quite the condo. You can tour the full 6,600 square feet at an earlier Daily Mail link, but suffice it to say, the sprawling estate is easily as well-outfitted as John Kerry’s yacht. It has “numerous” guest rooms among the eight bedrooms, sweeping views of the ocean, a lovely den with a billiards room, and a pool. It also has ample closet space so that Hillary Clinton can easily store her summer-weight white pantsuits.

And at one-speaking-engagement-per-vacation, the dead broke Clintons had to work hard for it. Or something. They were, of course, lucky to be allowed to rent such a lovely home, since prior to moving to the Saperstein mansion, they had frequented another Hamptons abode. After one summer, however, the owner was so dismayed at the amount of carbon-emitting electricity they used, the Clintons didn’t get much of their security deposit back. So they moved on to Republican donors who were happy to take their money.

Note: The story says $200,000 “per day,” but the earlier report, also from the Daily Mail, listed the property as $200,000 “per month,” which seems more likely. If that changes, we’ll update the post.
