Uh oh. Turns out there might be something of value in Afghanistan — lots of it — which our dreaded modern societies could put to productive use and which would help the Afghans develop.
Expect the fever swamps to erupt with a collective “Aha!” any moment, and Afghanistan to receive slightly different treatment in their narrative going forward.
