President Obama’s State of the Union address called for immigration reform “this year,” while also expressing a desire to create American jobs and “help more young men of color”. The problem is, Obama’s attempts to reform immigration will undermine the very American jobs he says he supports. Earlier Obama said:

Independent economists say immigration reform will grow our economy and shrink our deficits by almost $1 trillion in the next two decades. 

However, the Congressional Budget Office and Joint Committee on Taxation report that Obama’s facts just aren’t true, at least if we take last year’s bipartisan immigration legislation as a model. Not only that, but immigration reform would hurt the middle class and the very “men of color” that Obama wants to support:

“In light of recent debates on comprehensive immigration reform, we are writing to address a rarely-discussed effect of granting legal status or effective amnesty to illegal immigrants,” three Civil Rights Commission members wrote to members of Congress in April, arguing that the Gang of Eight bill would negatively impact America’s black communities. “Such grant of legal status will likely disproportionately harm lower-skilled African-Americans by making it more difficult for them to obtain employment and depressing their wages when they do obtain employment.”

Instead of exporting jobs, Obama will just give American jobs away to illegal immigrants within our own borders. So yes, these jobs might stay in America, but they will not be going to the pizza “dough-maker” or unemployed mother.
