The National Rifle Association gave a boost to Democratic Gov. Ted Strickland’s re-election campaign today by endorsing him over Republican rival John Kasich, the Associated Press reports.
Strickland has earned high marks from the NRA, but Kasich’s reputation on gun rights was badly damaged by his vote for the 1994 Clinton assault weapons ban.
Prior to today’s endorsement, the two candidates were locked in a tight race.
