In my post earlier on the contretemps between Netanyahu and Obama, I perhaps did not explain the circumstances quite well enough. Several commenters, who sound awfully radically anti-Israeli, gave horrendously skewed descriptions of what is going on. Luckily, Charles Krauthammer comes to the rescue. Read EVERY word of these excerpts, please, as recorded by NRO. Among the numerous cogent points by the good doctor, there was this: “Netanyahu works out a fig leaf, a compromise in which he agrees to a ten-month moratorium outside of Jerusalem for a freeze. And then all of a sudden Obama re-imposes a new condition now of a freeze in Jerusalem, which no Israeli government will ever accept.” Quite right. That’s the point I was trying to make, too. But Krauthammer surrounded it with far more eloquent and fact-laden explanations than I did. Again, read it all — especially about the bowing.
