Supermodel and reality show mainstay Janice Dickinson has jumped aboard the lynch mob against Bill Cosby claiming in an interview with Entertainment Tonight that the comedian raped her in 1982. Dickinson said she had planned to disclose this in her memoirs which were released in 2002, but was prevented from doing so by Cosby’s legal team. However, Cosby’s attorney Martin Singer calls Dickinson’s claims “a complete lie.”
A few years back, Dickinson claimed that Sylvester Stallone had injected her with steroids. Stallone and Dickinson were an item in the early 1990s. However, the relationship soured when Dickinson falsely claimed Stallone had fathered her daughter. At the time, a representative for Stallone said, “Janice Dickinson lied about the origin of her child, and she’s lying about this.”
Under the circumstances I think people should view Dickinson’s claims with skepticism. If it’s possible for her to lie about who fathered your child, it is certainly possible for her to lie about a rape accusation.
Unfortunately when it rains, it pours and right now it’s pouring over Bill Cosby. The more often these claims are repeated the more they will believed even if turns out they are without merit.
UPDATE: The stormclouds have burst wide open. Both Netflix and NBC cancelled deals today with Cosby.
UPDATE II: Now TVLand is pulling re-runs of The Cosby Show. As if withholding Keshia Knight-Pulliam’s residual checks will solve anything. But I guess The Cosby Show is now being expunged from existence.
