Gag-Fest at the U.S. Open
by

Much more to say tomorrow. But what a disappointment the Open was. It had all the elements for something truly great, and then EVERYBODY gagged their way in. Not just tough holes, but just badly hit, choking shots. And, is Phil Mickelson EVER EVER EVER going to shoot even par or better on the final nine holes of a US Open when in contention? Just once?

As I said, there will be plenty more to write when there is time. For now, hat’s off to winner Graeme McDowell, who seems like a very likeable fellow. And a major bow to Tom Watson. What a great champion of the ages, Imagine at age 60 finishing tied for 29th in a 156-man field at the toughest test in golf. Wow. Also, one last note: Davis Love’s 6th place finish gets him back in the Masters after a couple years away. Good for Davis, a class act.
