Rep. Jason Altmire, a heavily courted swing vote who had been wavering back and forth over whether to support the health care bill, announced Friday afternoon that he would vote against the bill. However, this was also accompanied by news that Rep. Allen Boyd, who had voted against the “shell ” bill in committee earlier this week, has announced he would vote “yes.” So it could very well be that Speaker Nancy Pelosi spared Altmire because she no longer needs his vote.
