Lucky Six

What is it with game six? In future the 2011 game six will be spoken of in the reverent tones reserved for game six of the ’75 World Series, which still holds the most nominations for Best-Baseball-Game-Ever-Played. As least young Freese didn’t have to do a little dance, like Carlton Fisk did, to keep his ball fair. And it was game six in the ’86 Series that Bill Buckner committed his non-execute on Mookie Wilson’s grounder, leading to pandemonium in Shea Stadium and heartbreak in New England.

For fans of the Grand Old Game looking for excitement, six is a lucky number, though this morning Nolan Ryan may not think so.
