James, what is the alternative strategy- a different message or a different electoral approach? If the latter, it’s a real dilemma since he is not polling well elsewhere. I suppose he could throw everything into Florida but that is one heck of a gamble. His entire strategy and the accompanying money and time allocation was premised on winning Iowa and NH so changing midstream is tough. If it’s a different message it gets real confusing (well, more confusing than it is now). “I’m for Change, but only the bad things” might be a bit too cute. As to the point about Iraq, I’m not sure it is a “pro War” electorate that doesn’t like what they are hearing or whether it is a perception that he does not command the stage in the same way Rudy or McCain does on foreign policy and terror issues which have dominated the debate over the last few weeks.
