As widely expected, Hillary Clinton has dominated the Democratic races tonight.
The one I want to highlight is here in Massachusetts. With 82% of the vote in, Hillary wins 52.1% compared to 47.9% for Bernie. I wish to highlight because of the visibility of Bernie’s campaign. I haven’t been able to go outside in the past six months without seeing someone either campaigning for Bernie or wearing a Bernie button. You wouldn’t have known that Hillary Clinton was running for President.
But most politics happens behind the scenes. There are numerous elected Democrat officials and unions who have strong get out the vote efforts and this likely gave HIllary the edge. I do wonder if the result would have been different had the vote been held closer to the New Hampshire primary.
I realize that Bernie will win delegates here. But as long as the superdelegates are firmly in Hillary’s corner the race is a fait d’accompli.
