There may not be crying in baseball, Wilmer Flores excepted, but there is the occasional punt.
Now that the Los Angeles Dodgers are out of the playoff picture it’s no longer urgent to determine if Dodgers infielder Chase Utley should be suspended for his take-out slide of Ruben Tejada in Game Two of the National League Division Series, a slide that resulted in a broken leg for Tejada. So the hearing on Utley’s appeal of a two-day suspension has been put off until sometime in the off-season. The hearing was scheduled for today.
If the suspension is upheld, it would be served at the beginning of next year’s season, assuming the then 37-year-old Utley is on any team’s roster then.
