Pentagon general counsel Jim Haynes, who ought to be a federal judge right now, finally moves back into private life on March 10. Sen. McCain could go a significant way towards easing some hard feelings by issuing a statement saying that although he and Haynes may have had differences on substance, he recognizes how well and long, and with what integrity, Haynes served his country and that the American people should be grateful for his service; and that he, McCain, wishes Haynes well.
