If anyone wasn’t clear on just what Barack Obama stands for, Ted Kennedy’s just completed endorsement of him put some fat meat on those bones: essentially every left-liberal nostrum Teddy has stood and fallen over for these past 40 odd years. Don’t say you haven’t been warned.

But there were some interesting moments at the American U. rally, beginning with why the legally challenged Rep. Patrick Kennedy led off the proceedings. Caroline Kennedy, on the other hand, was utterly classy and charming, even when she referred to her uncle as Teddy. As for his remarks, I was half-expecting he’d end them with a rousing introduction of Obama as “the next President of the United States.” But he didn’t. He also paid tribute of sorts to Obama’s two remaining rivals for the Democratic nomination — knowing full well that referring to Edwards and Hillary in the same breath was actually a slap at Hillary.
