Polling - The American Spectator | USA News and Politics
The word is that a new Florida poll will show Rudy at 31%, Thompson and McCain at 13%, Romney at 12% and Hucakabee at 10%. If you look through the national polls the same pattern can be seen: Rudy moving ahead at or above 30% and a flattening of the rest of the field. So this is more grist for the mill of Florida GOP-ers who have long claimed to be the most representative GOP state in the country.
Then along comes the new Fox national poll: Rudy at 33%, McCain at 17%(up 5 pts), Thompson at 12% (down 5 pts.) and Romney and Huckabee at 8%. There is good news for Rudy who continues to edge up, has a favorable rating that far surpasses the other GOP contenders and maintains a large advantage in “leadership.” However, McCain should also be happy. He’s bypassed Thompson as he has in other polls to move into second, leads in “honesty” and does best( albeit within the margin of error with Rudy) against Hillary. Romney’s opponents will like this quote from the poll director: ” ‘What is striking is that Romney has spent huge amounts of money and gone nowhere while Huckabee [who] has spent virtually nothing is actually catching up to Romney in places like Iowa…While things change, right now it appears something fundamentally is flawed in Romney’s effort.'”
