Hillary’s Khan Job
by

Hillary Clinton supported Obama’s persecution of the Little Sisters of the Poor and his countless other assaults on religious freedom. In her capacity as Secretary of State, she made the imposition of the gay agenda on Christian countries in the developing world a “priority” of American foreign policy. She complained about outmoded “religious beliefs” in her speeches. She lambasted Republicans for violating the “separation of church and state.”

But these days one finds her campaigning from pulpits. “Patriotism is the last refuge of the scoundrel,” said the 18th-century English author Samuel Johnson. So is piety. When not forcing her hapless running mate into renouncing his opposition to taxpayer-funded abortions — Kaine has now said that he is determined to get “comfortable” with Hillary’s support for them — she can be frequently heard praising his “faith.”

Last Sunday she appeared at an African-American church in Ohio to proclaim her great respect for “people of faith.” She gushed about how her running mate “feels right at home” and used the Khan controversy to denounce Trump. “I don’t begrudge anyone of any other faith, or of no faith at all,” she said. “But I do tremble before those who would scapegoat other Americans. Who would insult people because of their religion, their ethnicity, their disability. That’s just now how I was raised.”

After Barack Obama scapegoated Christians in middle America for clinging to their God and guns, Hillary didn’t “tremble.” She didn’t climb into any pulpits to defend people of faith. She joined his secularist administration and used her State Department post to browbeat Christians. She railed against the religious for impeding progress. One religion, however, was spared from her secularism: Islam. She sent off diplomats to re-write the constitution of Kenya to include abortion rights and the LGBT agenda. No such envoys were sent to Saudi Arabia or any of the other Islamic countries opposed to her progressive priorities.

Hillary’s cynicism knows no bounds. When Bill Clinton ran for the presidency, she felt comfortable enough in her unapologetic feminism to insult submissive wives and homemakers by saying bitterly, “I suppose I could have stayed home and baked cookies and had teas, but what I decided to do was to fulfill my profession which I entered before my husband was in public life.” Now as the first female presidential nominee ever, she seeks to win the White House as a booster of patriarchal Islam. One could easily imagine Hillary or one of her feminist pals making the same comment Trump made about Mr. Khan’s wife: “I’d like to hear his wife say something.” But this week they feigned great outrage at the implied slight. They are suddenly champions of wives whom they would normally disdain as enablers of a benighted culture. Any Swift Boat will do for Hillary.

The alliance between the party of secularism and Islam speaks to the cynicism of both sides. Nine out of ten Muslims voted for Obama and presumably will do the same for Hillary. The platform of the Democratic Party and Sharia law don’t exactly overlap. But Democrats and Muslims share a common enemy: conservative Christians who seek to preserve a constitutional America. To defeat them, Democrats and Islam are joining together to push the propaganda that concerns about encroaching jihad are “unconstitutional.”

At the convention, the Democrats argued that the mere existence of borders is unconstitutional and that foreigners possess constitutional rights to enter America. These claims would have come as a surprise to the authors of the Constitution.

It is perilous enough for the future of the country that Democrats advance those lies. But “Never Trump” Republicans, many of whom present themselves as sober constitutional conservatives, appear ready to join the Democrats in the adoption of the “living Constitution” at the expense of the real one. Whenever they denounce Trump as “un-American,” they are paying homage to the prevailing bogus liberal pieties that make up that living Constitution. Most of the Republicans opposing Trump are me-too liberals who are happy to partner with Hillary in the creation of a borderless, de-Christianized America. Like Hillary, they preen as enlightened defenders of Islam against Trump while lecturing Kim Davis to get out of public life.

The tiger of Islam which they are all so proud of riding may one day devour them. Should that day come, Trump’s “misogyny” and “Islamophobia” will look like harmless trifles and his campaign will look like the last gasp of common sense before America’s final plunge into PC darkness.
