The whole idea of a National Day of Service on Sept. 11, whether voluntary or not and regardless of who is promoting the idea, ought to make advocates of limited government jittery. I mean, aren't taxes, by which the productive subsidize the nonproductive, enough? How much more service to the government is needed? Where does it end? It reminds me of something that Michelle Obama, in her unintentional imitation of Evita Peron last year, said.
Barack Obama will require you to work. He is going to demand that you…move out of your comfort zones. That you push yourselves to be better. And that you engage. Barack will never allow you to go back to your lives as usual, uninvolved, uninformed.
It turns out the First Lady might have meant it. This all reminds me of the Reich Labor Service, a program instituted to help "green" the Third Reich. The members of the Reich Labor Service appeared prominently in the classic Nazi propaganda film, Triumph of the Will, (I had to watch it in college) bearing shovels in place of rifles.
Throughout this post are some screen grabs from the Leni Riefenstahl film that are worth pondering as we're urged to plant community gardens and organize welfare recipients on Sept. 11. I know this blog post will be misrepresented by liberals (and maybe a few conservatives) so for the record, I don't think President Obama is intent on turning America into Nazi Germany but he is clearly an advocate of virtually unlimited government. The concept of national service as a duty generally does not gain a foothold in free countries nowadays. Note how many countries in socialist Europe require military service. President Obama has definite Fascist (i.e. corporatist) tendencies in his economic policies, though, as did President Bush in the closing months of his presidency when he got nervous about his legacy and took leave of his senses. (Of course, I am assuming the circumstances made President Bush a corporatist. Perhaps he was one all along.) Apparently, as a commenter at the American Spectator website just noted, President Bush also urged Americans to do community service. The linked Bush administration press release doesn't, however, say to do it on Sept. 11 specifically and, unlike the Obama administration, doesn't seem to put the power (for lack of a better word) of 9/11 to work promoting a particular political party or ideology. Nor does it try to suck all the meaning out of 9/11.
So, to the commenter I can only reply: Nice try. A National Day of Service (which isn't actually referenced in the Bush document) is a creepy idea no matter who is advancing it. We do not exist to serve the state. Politicians of both parties nowadays, though especially the Democrats, don't seem to understand this.
Rolfe| 8.25.09 @ 7:13AM
You, sir, are a pig.
This all reminds you of the Reich Labor Service? Worthless "thoughts" from a discount beck.
Crawl back under your slimy rock you disgusting worm. Vadum, indeed.
Rolfe| 8.25.09 @ 7:29AM
It does not take more than a call to serve America for scum like vadum and beck to put up their vile nazi-porn.
Right at your fingertips, isn't it?
Tim| 8.25.09 @ 7:45AM
It's all about "transforming" America in Barak's own image. If he thought he could do it by making everyone wear purple (Which would certainly make SEIU happy) he would. I propose that purple T-shirts are the new brownshirts of our age. Sure seems to fit the bill anyway.
Oh, and Rolfe, You seem to have an idea that Vadum is a noun, not a name. I'd love to hear your definition for it -keep it clean mind you. And while we are making personal attacks, I have been pondering your name, let see; the last character I remember with that moniker was the little Nazi boy/messenger boy/toady from the Sound of Music. Were you perhaps auditioning for that part with our new Gauliters? Oops, I mean Czars?
Rolfe| 8.25.09 @ 8:00AM
Tim,
I haven't wasted much time "pondering" your moniker, but I do recall a horrid series of real-life molestations committed by a "Tim".
Shocking.
JP| 8.25.09 @ 8:10AM
I can see from Rolfe's comments (or was the comment from Jerimiah in disguise?) that a raw nerve was hit. No, Obama is not a Nazis. But the Left always had an affinity to fascism. The idea of millions of workers marching off with shovels slung over shoulders always had an appeal for Lefties. Just read the drooling drivel from writers like Duranty and Lincoln Steffens ("I've seen the Future and it works!"). All it took was a bit of political theatre produced by Stalin's propaganda agents (workers marching off to their daily toils singing Soviet marching songs) to convince Lefties that all the Masses needed was a taste of the whip by thier Masters (presumably by the Elite Left), and Utopia would be here.
As many writers correctly interpret the 20th Century, all modern revolutions were fascistic in nature (Even the so-called October Revolution in Czarist Russia took a page out of the Fascist playbook).
Last year, the President gave a speech in Colorado in which he laid out his ideas concerning "Community Service". He proposed a plan in which by law school age children through college students would be compelled to work so many hours a year. Government subsidized loans would be contingent upon students working in thier communities. And if I remember correctly this didn't raise any eyebrows. As a matter of fact I remember some conservatives commenting this was a good idea -for it was all about "giving back". Not one politician warned that our Constitution prohibits indentured servitude (which is what mandatory community service is), and that one's citizenship doesn't come with strings attached.
Very dangerous times, indeed.
Rolfe| 8.25.09 @ 8:19AM
Oh, and vadum is indeed a noun. It means wingnut butterball that posts images from Leni Riefenstahl (he had to watch it in college) on the internet in response to a call to serve America.
A 99 cent store beck.
ConservativeWanderer| 8.25.09 @ 8:20AM
Looks like "Rolfe" didn't bother to read the post, just looked at the pretty pictures and leapt to a conclusion. If he had read the post, he'd have seen that Mr. Vadum included this (bold in original):
I know this blog post will be misrepresented by liberals (and maybe a few conservatives) so for the record, I don't think President Obama is intent on turning America into Nazi Germany
And Rolfe just proved him right.
Rolfe| 8.25.09 @ 8:34AM
Hey JP,
Shove it where the sun don't shine, creep. The left's "affinity" for fascism would be responsible for the liberation of Europe . You sound like you read Jonah's 'happy- face- with- a -hitler -mustache" bestseller and took it to heart. Good luck with that.

A call for voluntary service is never a problem.
But....compulsory service to the state is tyranny.
"Nazi", "Fascist", "Communist" "Socialist".....it's been known by many names in the past. The common thread that runs through all of them, however, never changes.
When you seek to elevate "The State" above all else, injustice, oppression and murder are soon to follow.

MyFriendRolfe| 8.25.09 @ 8:58AM
So Rolfe, what is your substantive beef with Vadum's piece? How do you distinguish the comments of our beloved First Lady with the idea of national socialist (I don't want to call anyone a nazi) fascist service brigades? I am not sure I understand your argument, although I gather you have some antipathy for Mr. Vadum. Just in case acquiantances repeat Mr. Vadum's argument, how should I respond?

History teaches us that the first refuge of the "progressive" would be the 're-education camps' (we call them 'public schools', now).
The second stop would be the internment and work camps (Obama would use the term "compulsory volunteerism").
And the last stop would be the 'death camps' (It appears that these are going to be named "Obamacare").
:) Have a nice day!

Rolfe| 8.25.09 @ 9:37AM
Dear Solo,
Perhaps you were absent from school when actual death camps were discussed. Perhaps you've forgotten. Are the images too painful? Are they so horrific that you might block them out? Something must not be connecting in order for you to have the apparent ability to connect an American political party to nazi death camps. It must suck to be you.
Grzmlyk| 8.25.09 @ 9:59AM
Why the hate, rolfy, me boyo? Turn that frown upside down!
What's the matter, sweetheart, that Cub Scout ran too fast and got away, and now you have all that pent-up energy with no, um, outlet? Maybe you just need more lebensraum, mein oppenfuhrer.
Bummer, my friend.
Nevertheless, I thought as a good liberal you're supposed to sit down and talk out your differences with those with whom you disagree (isn't that one of liberalism's first commandments?). I'm not getting a lot of love here. On the contrary, I'm getting - gasp - hate. Hate is bad, rolfy, boy.
Hate is what we conservatives do. It's you who love. You only hate hate itself. You love tyranny. You love those who would destroy us. You love crisis. You love chaos. You love platitudes. You love moral vanity. You love to preen. You love hypocrisy. You love the victim mentality. You love outrage. And most of all, of course, you love yourself.
Why, you and your ilk are so full of love, the only thing in this world you hate is conservatives. Oh. And freedom. And Jews ("neocons" to you). And personal responsibility. And the Constitution. And American Exceptionalism. And capitalism. And real tolerance. And people. And technology. And progress. And traditional values. And anyone who disagrees with you. And, of course, life itself.
Which is why the SS uniform suits you. Maybe that's the reason for the bee in your bonnet. Maybe your self-esteem has taken a blow because you don't look quite as snappy in your SS uniform as the ACORN rep told you you'd look.
And, as a friend, I have to say, it does make your butt look big. Which is odd. Black is usually a slimming color.
Oh. And the hat with the skull and crossbones insignia? Word to the wise: It makes your brain look very, very, very, very small.
Come to think of it, on closer examination, that's not a brain at all. It's fecal matter.
Never mind.
Rolfe| 8.25.09 @ 10:16AM
Grzmlyk,
I do not wish to learn the kazoo or the slide-whistle
I find your repeated nazi imagery to be creepy. Please find a different way to express yourself.
Solo| 8.25.09 @ 10:23AM
Now, now, Rolfe....
Who said anything about "Nazi death camps"? Stalin had his own version of 'death camps'. It was called the Ukraine and he sealed it off in order to starve out the population there.
Besides....I was just having a little fun with a bit of hyperbole. You "progressives" understand the concept of 'hyperbole', don't you?
After all....we were treated to cries of "Bush Knew" in the wake of the 9-11 disaster. And that wasn't from the lefty blogs, It was the junior Senator from New York who stood in the well of the Senate waving a newspaper headline with those words emblazoned across it.
"Bush Lied, Kids Died" was an interesting way of blaming Bush for what couldn't be known-thanks to cuts and restrictive policies on intelligence gathering enacted by DEMOCRATS, no less.
"Domestic Wire Taps" was the way it was described when the NSA gathered disembodied number lists of calls made to known terrorists. Again..not by little ole' blog commentors like me but by the "Mainstream Press"!
"Bush's Illegal War" was the cry after the democrats in congress overwhelmingly voted for the "Authorization For Use Of Force In Iraq".
I could go on for hours, but, why bother?
What is NOT hyperbole is the erie similarity between what the Nazis did in Germany prior to the whole thing accelerating out of control and the actions of the Obama administration.
The seizure of large portions of the auto industry (and turning it over to the unions), a take-over of the banking industry- replete with intimation tactics for dissenters and refusal to allow some to pay off and get out-, and now the take over of the entire health care industry in part with the cooperation of large sectors of that industry (Big Pharma) replete with bribes (in the form of special treatment) and intimidation --all in order to prosecute a particular political agenda with the express combined force of big business and big government.
And..let us not forget what is soon to be on the table: We have the government take-over of the energy industry (in cooperation with a leading business within that industry, G.E.) and.....forced unionization of the work force through "card check".
THAT, my friend...is FASCISM! It's the very definition of fascism and there's no getting around it.
Oh....and let us not forget our 'Dear Leader', Obama, sending forth his purple-shirted "Squadristi" to bust heads at town hall meetings-including those of elderly retired citizens and cripples in wheel chairs! Nice touch, there!
Then, of course, the 'Obamessiah' has his loyal "paper-hangers" in the media to spread his propaganda far and wide.
I don't need hyperbole to spell out the danger of what we're witnessing here. Anyone who isn't scared half to death is the one who has ignored history, my friend.
But....I'm sure that it's GREAT to be you! And...it sucks right now for anyone who won't allow themselves the luxury of ignorance.
Grzmlyk| 8.25.09 @ 10:24AM
How about learning to think? Would that interest you?
I apologize the for Nazi imagry. I know it's a sore spot. That whole Hitler thing. I get it. Well, one totalitarian government is pretty much the same as the rest. Maybe references to Stalinist Russia would be more to your liking. Or perhaps Mao's Cultural Revolution? Maybe you're a Mussolini man. Or a Pol Pot person.
A rose by any other name and all that.
Hey, wouldn't it be great if suddenly all conservatives disappeared overnight? Maybe were sent on trains to destinations "unknown?" Wouldn't that be, oh, what's the phrase - yes, wouldn't that be a "final solution" to the conservative problem?
Sieg Heil Rolfe!
Rolfe| 8.25.09 @ 10:42AM
Dear Solo, Grzmlyk,
I find it fascinating that death-camps = Obama is dismissed as hyberbolic "fun". Grzmlyk invokes the "final solution" and closes with sieg heil.
Breathtaking. True heroes died for your freedom to post utter nonsense. True heroes laid their lives, and often gave their lives, for your right to strut about on the internet and equate political opponents with the most monstrous acts in history. Congratulations.
Pete| 8.25.09 @ 10:53AM
Having just skimmed this string, I would say that it was you, Ralfey, who came out on fire with the insults. And let's not forget what the blog was about in the first place: remembering true heroes rather than diverting attention from them (and therefore global realities) by gardening with purple shirts on while holding hands and smoking dope. Go find that slimy rock you were talking about - you'll need more substance to compete here. Better yet, turn on most any media outlet and let your eyes glaze over while you pray to the Joker Messiah. Dunce.
2Anglico| 8.25.09 @ 10:55AM
No, rolphie, we are just canaries in the coal mine. By objecting now we "hope" to stymie the march to socialism. The road to socialism requires COERSION. Coersion leads to death camps. We want to avoid the ultimate result of tyranny. If you think it cannot happen here you are sadly mistaken.

Thoughtful comments, guys.
ROLFE can never suffer the tyranny we all refuse to accept.
He has already "built his own prison" around himself and his mind. He is simply pithed that we are still walking around free outside those bars.
(or IN the bars with a beverage of our choice. (heh)
Sadly, Rolfe and his ilk do not self-love. They self-hate then project it through the bars they have built around themselves.
They cannot even imagine walking in the free air under God we enjoy so much.
Raoul Ortega| 8.25.09 @ 11:13AM

Rolfe| 8.25.09 @ 11:20AM
Oh, Raoul, you so pithy. (slide-whitsle)
Texican, you haven't a clue. Your comment is indecipherable nonsense.
Sorry Ken.
Grzmlyk| 8.25.09 @ 11:24AM
I think you are right, Ken: narcissism is a tightrope walk between an artificially overinflated sense of self-worth and a true self loathing.
And just to clarify, when I say Obama is no different from any of "them," by "them" I mean Hitler, Stalin, Pol Pot, Mao - because tyranny may have many faces, but it's got one psyche. And it's timeless. Hence Castro, Hugo Chavez, Mugabe, Hu Jintao. And Obama.
As 2Angelico said, it's all about coercion. And when coercion reaches critical mass, it becomes tyranny, and then it is the citizens who serve the state and not the other way around.
I will be damned if I let Obama and his merry band of theives, powermongers and useful idiots like Rolfe make me genuflect before them.
It'll never happen.
Rolfe| 8.25.09 @ 11:29AM

MetalMan Wrote:

Now...here we have something that is worth exploring, from both sides of the isle!
Hitler (to use an over-used example) never campaigned on a platform of "Vote for me and let's murder 6 million innocent people and start a world war that will destroy our nation".
It always starts as something else. That "something else" is always viewed by 'the people' as a great idea at the time. Only later does it morph into something hideous.
This "something hideous" is only possible when the rights of the people are allocated by men--by "governments".
It is only when a nation is predicated on rights that are immutable by 'men' is that nation truly safe from tyranny.
We were once this nation but we are quickly drifting away from that safety. And this is the real danger.
If not Obama, then it will be someone else, more sinister, more drunk with power....it's just a matter of time.
So long as "The State" is allowed to allocate "rights", the people will never be truly safe. This is the very thing that has allowed the atrocities of the 20th Century: !00's of Millions dead....murdered.....in the quest for "social justice" as defined through subjective means- through a quest of the ultimate power over the lives of others to be delivered to those who would promise to know what cannot be known: The greatest "justice" for all men.
We will find the courage to join together in a final fight to preserve the concept of a guarantor of human rights that resides beyond the purview of "The State", or liberty will cease to exist upon the face of the earth.
America is not immune to the atrocities that have befallen other nations- Not so long as we can re-define our constitution by appointing black-robed despots who would ignore that Constitution in favor of "The State".
70 years of re-defining the Constitution has led us to where we are today. Unless we find a way to change that, if Obama won't finally put an end to it (as he has lamented over it being a document of "negative rights"....for government), then someone else will.
We have slept long enough.
"If not now, when? If not us, who?"
Grzmlyk| 8.25.09 @ 1:13PM
Solo, you are so right. Like all dictators, Obama holds no value whatsoever for human life and has nothing but contempt for America.
He doesn't even really try to hide it. And I think the left has finally embraced fully a nihilistic culture of death by which they are happy to pillage and plunder the institutions of this country, and its rank-and-file citizens, in the name of some chimeric abstraction called "fairness."
And yet, just as with Hitler, Stalin, Pol Pot, et al, the real point of all of this isn't fairness, nor is it ideological Nirvana.
No, it's something far more sensual, far more visceral, far more fetid, far, far more base: It's raw, naked, gluttonous, insatiable, ruthless, no-holds-barred power. It's the gratification that comes with an ostentatiously opulent lifestyle like the one Michelle and Barack have so effortlessly slipped into. A life ensconced in a lavishly-apppointed bubble where underlings - you know, the "people" to whom you promised to spread egalitarian social justice - bow and scrape before you because they fear you. Look at what's already happened to corporate America. Tyranny isn't coming. It's here. And it's calcifying.
And, while I think the common sense of the average American - NOT the intellectuals who are always Utopia's misantropic architects - may stop Obama - thank god - we must remain ever vigilant, because tyranny IS the natural state of human governance; American Exceptionalism is the EXCEPTION to civilization's shabby history. And it requires constant weeding, constant nurturing, constant resolve, in order to flourish.
And equating Obama with those tyrants - all of them empty human beings who only found affirmation by inflating their egos beyond the scope of normal men - is not hyperbole. He's cut from the very same cloth as yesterday's tyrants and the dictators of today with whom he gets along so marvelously.
I will not rest until - politically speaking ONLY - Obama, Axelrod and Emanual's heads are on pikes and we return this country to its rightful owners.
The rest of the left needs to be put where it belongs - at the zoo, where they can be observed for entertainment and educational purposes in their natural habitats, but separated from the real people who make this country work by the protective moat of reason.

Obama is a hard core socialist. And make no mistake, Amnesty is his ultimate goal. How many illegals are here? Well, for the last decade the "open borders mob" have been telling us it's about 10 million. A more realistic estimate is 39 million. Now here is where things get very interesting.
Amnesty not only covers the illegals here, it also covers their immediate family members back in their native countries (mostly Mexico). By the time you factor these people in, now you are likely looking at the prospect of adding up to 70-80 million brand new, mostly illiterate people to this country. They will drive wages through the floor as they fall in love with our welfare system! And, BTW, 95% of them will vote in lockstep with the left and Comrade Obama.

Jeremiah, how do you say "screw you, A-Hole" in German? Teach me so I can say it to you, moron.

The modus operandi of 'Rolfe' follows the same path of liberal reader. This individual exhibits megalomaniacal traits such as feeling genuine satisfaction from perceived persecution by bloggers here, feeling especially elevated in power and status if any author responds to him personally.
While ordinary individuals go about their lives trying to improve their lot for themselves or their loved ones, this delusional manic individual trolls this site under a variety of monikers in an effort to bring significance to his lonely and bleak existence. Even libs with the same viewpoints want nothing to do with this guy.
My $.02, I had a paranoid schizophrenic individual threaten my family because she blamed our success for her own failures. She could not help herself, just like liberal reader will never help himself by leaving this site.
And yes, I believe Obama is the one of the biggest threats to come out of politics in a long time. His 'share the wealth' debate with McCain should have alarmed the citizens to refrain from voting for this commie whack-job. Now he wants to change the meaning of 9/11, most likely for political gain. Up to this point he has done nothing to support the hard working families in this country, instead implementing programs that are plunging the country into debt and dependency, risking the future of our children. Why should he stop and do something positive for us now?

Nazi = National SOCIALIST German Workers' Party
It would come as a real surprise to Hitler and Mussolini that they were anything other than (insane) socialists.
Fact: There was never a single communist government in the history of the world. But wait a minute! We were all told that the Soviets were communists! Union of Soviet SOCIALIST Republics. They were actually-existing socialists and they murdered about 63,000,000 people under the mantle of communism.
Kinda’ neat, huh?
The fact is the Soviets told their slaves that communism was the goal – “heaven on earth.” Even Soviet schoolchildren understood they were ruled by socialists.
Today, socialists are hiding again under a different mantle. Now they call themselves “progressives.” Real socialism equals slavery, misery and death.
Don’t allow socialism to hide under false identities. Socialists are democidal maniacs.
Obama is a hard core socialist and his ardent disciples are akin to Jim Jones worshipers.

What happened to Conservatism in America?
Conservatism has a long and justifiably proud tradition in this country, and is as American as apple pie. However, it has dramatically changed over recent decades with the emergence of the more secular rightism of Barry Goldwater and especially the New Right activism under the leadership of folks like Paul Weyrich, Irving Kristol, Norman Podhoretz and others. That is, it has dramatically tilted way over towards a dogma driven ideological movement and relentless cultural warfare. Recall that the aforementioned Paul Weyrich founded the Heritage Foundation and also the Moral Majority with Jerry Falwell. In fact, the late Weyrich coined the phrase “moral majority”. As one of the foremost conservative leaders of our time, his influence on conservative policy and practices cannot be overstated. What should concern free-spirited Americans of all stripes are the avocations made by him and others of the New Right persuasion, perhaps best exemplified in his publication “Integration of Theory and Practice” wherein he states:
From Paul Weyrich's training manual -
1) Falsehoods are not only acceptable, they are a necessity. The corollary is: The masses will accept any lie if it is spoken with vigor, repetition, energy and dedication.
2) It is necessary to be cast under the cloak of “goodness” whereas all opponents and their ideas must be cast as “evil.”
3) Complete destruction of every opponent must be accomplished through unrelenting personal attacks.
4) The creation of the appearance of overwhelming power and brutality is necessary in order to destroy the will of opponents to launch opposition of any kind.
Sound familiar??
True Conservatives are inherently skeptical .. cautious .. even loath to take leaps of faith. They greatly value empiricism and are resolutely guided by it in policy formulations. .. and they are pragmatic. Sadly, this empiric discipline has been replaced by dogma and hubristic confabulation. In the face of the catastrophic failure of “supply-side” economics .. driven by a party that has controlled the Presidency, Congress, or Both for the last 14 years .. the GOP has mired this country in a miasma of failed policies. Blinded by ideology .. they are unable to come to terms with what they've done and are desperate, in the Weyrich tradition, to destroy anything that runs counter to their failed beliefs.
I don't think this is what John Adams had in mind for the American colonies. True pragmatic, working, deliberative Conservatism evolved well into the 20th century .. as exemplified in recent times by the Rockefeller Republicans (now derisively called RINOs .. Republicans In Name Only). In its place, the current Grand Old Party's conservatism has devolved to a sad, twisted, ideologically driven parody of its former self .. a parody that came to devastating fruition under Ronald Reagan and G.W Bush. Sadly for all of us, this pestilence of failure will be with us for years to come.
Nobama| 8.26.09 @ 1:55PM
James, talk about pestilence of failure: Obama is the Poster Boy of FAILURE.
Latest Gallup poll numbers give the lie to your idiotic rant: 40% of Americans consider themselves Conservatives/20% of Americans consider themselves Liberals. 2 to 1 ratio in OUR favor, fool.
Another Liberal moron spews more fascist liberal lies. Loser.
Scott| 8.26.09 @ 3:52PM
I think that Rolfe and James are confusing the Liberal tactics for Conservative ones. Although I grant that the right has taken some of these tactics to heart of late in countering them. Disparaging opponents as Evil or stupid has been the liberal message for decades. Nixon was evil, Reagan was an idiot, Bush Senior was Evil and Machiavellian, Quayle was a moron, GW was a dimbulb, Cheney is The Devil incarnate. At the same time, Carter was a brilliant statesman and ever so compassionate (unless you were a Jew), Clinton was a genius, enlightened, compassionate and morally superior (inspite of abuse of office, adultery, financial and real estate scams), Gore is utterly brilliant and globally conscious, at one with the pulse of mother earth herself, and Obama is the Savior come to lead the masses out of the dark evils and despair of the lying Bush regime!
So lets be serious about this for one moment. All fascists are members of the cult of personality. The leader is what matters, above the substance and rationality, or lack there of, of their policies. To question this leader is a direct attack on the government itself. To oppose any policy makes one questionable in all areas, and bent on the downfall of the nation. (I grant Bush did that too, but Bush was never a Conservative) The leader is pushed as being for the people and as a father figure who will care for them and guide them through "difficult periods" to bring a glorious and bright new world order, where all are taken care of and need only fear those who would take their beloved government care away. Does this sound familiar? These are Obama's lines, but yes, they were Lenin's and Stalin's and Hitler's lines as well. "We are the laughing stock of the world, looked down on and ridiculed by other countries, but we will be strong, we will be respected, we will have peace and prosperity for 1000 years." (Just bear with me while I consolidate power and make sure that no one who disagrees with me can stand in the way of that goal.) "Others created this mess, I am not responsible for the economy or the debt or the world's opinions of us, but I will make it all ok...and if I don't remember its not me who is to blame." Sound familiar? This too was Hitler's rallying cries & today it is Obama's. Am I saying Obama is Hitler? No. He certainly read Mein Kampf and the Communist Manifesto, and Cloward-Pivens, and Alinsky. He follows the game plans to a tee.
But the facts do not back up Bush being to blame for it all, or Republican control of Congress. The housing crash was precipitated by Democrat policies started under Carter, expanded under Clinton and the blockage of all attempts to monitor and control them by Democrats Frank, Waters, Dodd, etc. under Clinton and Bush. Fall of the Big 3 was from poor management in the companies and Union demands which were unsustainable. The reward to the unions for bankrupting their employers? Half ownership in the nationalized companies. Outrageous! Union and Community Organizer thugs to quell opposition and threaten protesters & to swell crowds to make public sentiment appear to favor the glorious leader? Brown Shirts in Germany, ACORN and SEIU et al under Obama. Same tactic, different names. Please stop senseless, blind following of Obama, he is not a saint, he is not a lover of the country or its people. He is just the newest member of the Cult of Personality, and has no more substance or moral authority than any of his predecessors in it.
So look at facts, look at patterns, look at methods, then think for yourselves. Is this man, Obama giving us what he promised or did he sell the country on a false promise and do a bait and switch? Post racial? He throws race into every debate and claims all who oppose him are racist. Bipartisan? At a surface level he says he wants bipartisan agreement, then his party refuses every proposed amendment and every idea put forth by the other side and claims no ideas are presented at all. Unifying America? All who oppose his policies are hateful mobs, astroturf and paid for by special interests, no genuine American could have real opposition to his plans.
I am unapologetically conservative. I do not believe in big govt, nanny govt, taxing, controlling and oppressive govt. I believe in individual freedom and individual responsibility. I believe in charity, of my own choosing and in my own way. I believe in taking care of my own and not relying on govt. to take care of me or mine. I believe in bearing the brunt of my choices, be they positive or negative results that come my way. I believe in the Constitution and the limits placed upon Govt. by it as well as the freedoms guaranteed by it. So I say No! to Obama, no to his empty rhetoric and no to his massive Government plans and piles of mounting debt which cripple us now and well into our future. Did the Republicans fail to live up to the Conservative Principles which gave them control of Congress and the Presidency before. Yes they did, and they lost that control because of it. But the Democrats have in short order shown that they are worse and cannot be trusted with control of this country, so they too must go. I pray for America and I pray that our Public Servants will recall that they are meant to serve the public, not rule it and that we can turn the tide to make America great and free once again.
Nobama| 8.26.09 @ 6:10PM
Excellent post, Scott: Brilliantly stated.
One question: Will the democrats go or will ACORN keep them in power? That is the difference between Dems and Repubs; Democrats have gone over to the dark side. Creepy.

Over the course of the Fall campaign and since his inauguration, our President has been subjected to all manner of vulgar, belligerent, hateful speech from his detractors. Here are some examples uttered at rallies .. and that have appeared both in the media and on numerous wing-nut forums.
He's a “Muslim” .. he's an “Islamic Fascist” .. he's, he's an “Arab” .. he's the “Messiah” .. he's the “Savior” .. he's a “member of Hamas” ... he “hates America” .. he's “Godless” .. he's “that one” .. he's a “Socialist” .. he's a “Racist” .. he's the “Anti-Christ” .. he's a “Communist” .. he's “Evil” .. he's a “Nazi” .. he's a “Gangsta Rapper” .. he's a “Traitor” .. he wants to “euthanize the elderly” .. he's a “fascist dictator” .. he's a “Jihadist” .. he's “gonna take away our guns” .. “Kill him, Kill him” .. “Off with his head” .. he's an “Illegal Alien” .. he “forged his birth certificate” .. he's “Adolf Hitler” .. he's a “Terrorist”.
Does this look like the kind of speech one would expect from true American patriots .. or does this sound more like mob speech? Wouldn't a true American say “he's our “President”?
As we all know, the Dems are in the familiar position of having to clean up yet another Republican mess .. with the GOP having controlled the Presidency, Congress or Both for the last 14 years. Alas, the economy is turning around in a remarkably short period of time ... the capital markets have not only stabilized but have risen dramatically -- the DOW is up more than 1,500 points since Obama and his team took office .. consumer confidence is on the rise and exceeding forecast. Confidence over the next 6 months is expected to rise to its highest level since the Bush Recession began in December 2007. The automakers are being reshaped and positioned for a come-back. Economic growth is projected to re-emerge his year, and the S&P Case-Schiller home price index is showing that 18 of the 20 cities tracked showed improvement in June from only one city in March.. thus, banks will be able to stabilize their balance sheets more quickly and toxic paper will be written-off more quickly .... all within just a few months time! Additionally, Laura Ling and Euna Lee are back home w/ help from Bill Clinton, Somali terrorist/hi-jackers were thwarted in a big way, and our civil rights aren't being undermined by ubiquitous surveillance and other domestic spying techniques authorized by the Bushies. A health care bill is being shaped in Congress despite the GOP noise machine which seems to have bitten down on an electrical wire and can't let go. There's too much that needs to be fixed to celebrate, but all good Americans can be thankful that America is coming home.
Let's all recognize that we are truly blessed to have Barack Obama and his team in office.
