The latest Rasmussen poll, e-mailed to me by a reader, shows Pat Toomey up 21 points over Sen. Arlen Specter. Specter would win just 30 percent of Pennsylvania Republican primary voters to Toomey's 51 percent. Specter only leads by eight points among the remaining moderate Republicans. If these numbers are right, Specter has a tough road to renomination ahead of him.

It would be nice to see a Republican Senator in Pennsyltucky finally.

I, too, would like to see Spector defeated, but Toomey is a liberal-tarian from the Club for (Illegal Alien) Growth.

As tough as it will be for Specter to beat Toomey, it will be even tougher for Toomey to win a general election. Democrats can say hello to their 60th seat.

Yes, of course Toomey will lose in the general. However, at least the "good" people of Pennsylvania will have the opportunity to hear arguments for free markets, fiscal restraint, limited government, etc. I would rather that those arguments at least be made.

They will reject Toomey because they want handouts. Gimme, gimme, gimme. Take care of me from cradle to grave.
