The Senate confirmed him by a vote of 60 to 34. Moderate Republican Sen. Susan Collins was one of the no votes. Democrats Robert Byrd and Tom Harkin also voted against him because of his tax payment problems.

There is no justice in the world. In 2009, a tax dodger [Tim Geithner] becomes Secretary of the Treasury of the United States. In 1931, another tax dodger [Al Capone] went to prison for eight years. Is this a wonderful country, or what.

I wonder if the IRS would be so accomodating to anyordinary American if they had Geithner's offenses. Now we know the Obama team has zero respect for the law and sadly the 10 wimp GOP Senators likewise.

The new Sec Treas is recommending the Turbo Tax defense. Hold out as long as you can, waiting for the statute of limitations to run, then blame the software, the agency will waive penalties and interest, and send you a card on your birthday.
