Islamic terrorists carried out deadly attacks on three continents yesterday. In all, over 60 people were killed following a call by ISIS for Muslims to go the extra mile in honor of the holy month of Ramadan. You might miss this story if you look for it in the Washington Post, as it is vastly overshadowed by an above-the-fold, screaming headline celebrating the Supreme Court’s gay rights decision.

In the past, Muslims got to heaven through fasting and prayer. Now it’s killing “infidels.”

In the French attack, the devout practitioner of Islam made an anti-American statement by driving his van into an American-owned factory containing gas cylinders. The resulting explosion injured several people, and police found a severed head stuck on a fence framed on either side with banners bearing Arabic writing. They found the rest of the victim in the killer’s van.

The Times of Israel reports that the killer sent a selfie of himself and his trophy head to a phone number in North America via the WhatsApp messaging system, once again showing how enamored Islamists are of Satan’s technology. As is usual, the killer’s neighbors are shocked, shocked by what he did. Said one of them, “I am a Muslim, but you can’t kill like this. It’s not who we are. In Islam, we’re not told to slit throats. We only slit the throats of sheep. You don’t slit the throats of people…. [The killer] isn’t a Muslim in my opinion.”

In Tunisia at least one gunman opened fire at sunbathers at a seaside resort frequented by European tourists, killing at least 37, among them five Brits, three Belgians, one German, and one Irish. The Times of Israel quotes a Tunisian official as saying, “He [the killer] had a parasol in his hand. He went down to put it in the sand and then he took out his Kalashnikov and began shooting wildly.” Beware Islamists bearing beach umbrellas. He was enjoying himself too, “laughing and joking” as he mowed down his victims, according to UK media quoting eyewitnesses. Another eyewitness said that “he was choosing tourists, British, French.” To other people he said, “You go away.” So much for the fledgling democracy’s tourist industry.

In Kuwait, a suicide bomber blew himself and at least 25 others up when he self-detonated at a Shiite mosque, as part of the ongoing Sunni-Shia dialogue underway in the Middle East.

All of this is a flyspeck, of course, which shouldn’t detract from the big news about gay marriage. The problem for us, however, is what to call it. French President François Hollande labeled it terrorism. Cutting off someone’s head is a bit of a giveaway, he concluded. Over here, we’re not so sure what to call it. The White House condemned the terrorist attacks “in the strongest terms,” which means they didn’t like it. Does this mean anything at all? What’s the difference between the White House condemning something in the strongest terms versus the mildest terms? When Obama shakes his puny fist, does anyone cower?

The upshot is all too clear. We’re going to announce that Israel is to blame, that all would be well if we imposed a “peace agreement” on Israel that prevents her from defending herself against such attacks. What we won’t do is confront the real cause of Islamic terrorism, which is as clear as the ears on Obama’s head: It’s Islam, stupid.
