The Man Who Despises America

And everyone knows it.

In May, Obama immediately issued a statement that he was "shocked and outraged by the murder" of a Kansas doctor specializing in partial-birth abortions. He called it a "heinous act of violence." Attorney-General Holder mobilized U.S. Marshals nationwide to provide protection to abortion clinics.

But Obama remained silent the very next day when two U.S. soldiers were gunned down by a Muslim extremist outside a Little Rock recruiting station. After repeated prodding for a presidential comment, the White House faxed an after-hours statement to select media outlets two days later offering a tepid remark that Obama was "saddened" without even mentioning the soldiers were murdered.

Five months later, another Muslim fanatic gunned down nearly four dozen Americans, killing 13, at the Ft. Hood army base. It was an act that demanded the most serious demeanor of the military's Commander-in-Chief. Yet, Obama referenced the massacre in the most insincere fashion just seconds after a jocular shout-out to an audience member during a public speaking engagement. It was the equivalent of attending a funeral in swimwear while en route to the beach.

The odd inadvertent comment or occasional verbal faux pas can be explained away as just that. However, Obama has a lifetime of comments and actions including 10 months as president that belie his real attitude toward the U.S. The difference between Obama and his immediate predecessors such as Ronald Reagan, the George Bushes and Bill Clinton who actually revere and honor the greatness of America and its citizens and institutions cannot be overstated.

This is the hard evidence you have against Obama (and is why I didn't vote for Obama, even though I couldn't stomach another Dole) because 20 years is a long time to sit on a pew listening to a Farrakhan-clone.

However, Wright is about the same on the hatred meter as anyone in the Klan, the Klan who had Republicans and Rightwing Southern Dems in its ranks for decades.
Since Bush 41 abdicated all conservative responsibility by being clueless post-Cold War; and since Bush 43 didn't have a conservative bone in his whole RINO body, I'm voting for Obama in '12.
Sue me when my attorney is paroled in 2013.

The GOP is now an anti-conservative party, not a conservative one. There is a distinction, though some Republicans might not realize that. I don't enjoy it, it is very sad that it turned out only the Cold War; and not, say, family values, was holding the Grand Old Patsies together.

For real conservatives, such is nothing to gloat about.

Sorry, Alan, you need to learn more about history. The Klan (and most of the major anti-civil rights pols of the 1950s and 1960s) was a Democratic organization that targeted not only blacks but Republicans. These were not "right-wind Dems" any more than Margaret Sanger, founder of Planned Parenthood (who favored forced sterilization and saw abortions as one way to solve "racial, political and social problems" and purify the race). Confederate General Nathan Bedford Forest (Democrat) was the Grand Wizard of the Klan at it's inception, and in a newspaper interview this good Dem said their primary opposition was to the Loyal Leagues and Republican state governments. He argued that many southerners believed that blacks were voting for the Republican Party [Mr. Lincoln's party] because they were being hoodwinked."

Was Sen. Robert Byrd ever considered "right wing"? His Klan ties are undeniable.

Remember, too, that it was Republican votes that allowed passage of the Civil Rights laws - a larger percentage of Reps voted for passage than Dems.

Conservatives are on the path to reclaiming the Republican party, which may actually be discovering a backbone these days. Of course, once they regain power the GOP will return to its corrupt ways, but that's politics. At least they should hold together long enough t undo some of the Obama/Pelosi/Reid attacks on democracy and capitalism.

He pretends to be a 'real conservative' but pushes leftwing talking points and the incredible idea that Obama is an alternative to the GOP.

'Southern Democrats' (Dixiecrats) ran as a separate party for a few years specifically against desegregation and equal rights.

When they failed to make any significant gains, these 'rightwing Southern Democrats' were readily welcomed back into the Democrat ranks.

Sen Robert Byrd was a KKK officer ('Exalted Cyclops') for years. He recruited scores, maybe hundreds, of KKK members who went on to terrorize African-American families.

Byrd was the Democrat Majority Leader for close to a decade. He is still an honored senior member of the Democrat Party.

Grand Wizard of the 'Knights of the Ku Klux Klan' David Duke repeatedly ran for office as a Democrat.

When Duke switched sides and ran on the GOP ticket, senior Republicans endorsed his Democrat opponents, fought to remove him from the ticket and formally repudiated him.

Every advocate of racist policies is a liberal...every advocate of equal opportunity and color blindness is a conservative.

Mikey, I guess you are still reading Big"O's" polls from several months ago. His popularity is still hovering around 51% but the most recent polls are showing an awakening in America regarding his flawed policies and ideologies (anywhere from 52 to 56% disapprove of where he is trying to take this country). I know that still leaves 44 to 48% that still need to be educated and some die hards never will admit being wrong. But this dirtbag is gonna ruin this economy and country anyway he can. Obviously Mark Hyman got his marching orders from the RNC. Politico's Ben Smith has written about an internal RNC memo outlining the fear campaign being planned by the committee to shake down potential donors. I would urge those on the right to take a look at the contempt some within the RNC harbor for you.

For all of its pretense, I am beginning to think that AmSpec is really no more than a cog in the GOP noise machine.

I used to think otherwise, but this unhinged rant is so ridiculous and so in line with what Limbaugh, Beck et. al. are saying that I now have serious doubts about this site as a serious place for reading about and debating issues.

As for O's polls, check the Rasmussen Presidential Approval tracking poll and see if you can't extrapolate the trend.

I'll be saying this for years: now that the Cold War is over there is nothing to unite the GOP, or even conservatives. We're all just talking past each other.
Another hack will run on the GOP ticket in '12, and Obama will be re-elected--
as Clinton was in '96.
Latinos are mostly conservative, but they are more loyal to their blood and La Raza than to conservatism; which is a large demographic change in fueling the Democrats slow but burgeoning success.
All this other sound and fury is merely sports contests up and down the field.
Black power is as nothing to Latino power; why do think AS hired Codevilla? for his libertarianism? hell no. That's not enough.
You can say you don't like blacks, but if you say you don't like latinos, then maybe there's a strike at your restaurant, and the pots and dishes sit dirty in the sinks.

You think that's gloating? No, I don't like change anymore, there is no real social progress anymore, just change.

What I have learned FIRST and FOREMOST, is that I am an American. I believe in every part of the goodness of america. The systems that are in place to protect freedoms and protect YOUR very way of life. If you looked for 2 seconds, HONESTLY at who Obama is and read this article for the many realities that are in it, I guarantee your opinions would change. How do I know that? I defended Bush to the n'th degree over and over again and he did the same things that a real conservative does NOT DO. His last two years our government grew and grew and now its growing so fast it will be virtually impossible to reign in. You have to see this man for who he is. For his associations, his comments, his actions. If we are blinded by celebrity or merely accept him for being black or for being a democrat, we are lost. And, unfortunately, we have been doing this for a very very very long time. It has to stop if our Republic is to survive.

It's something to keep in mind when reading the Obama criticism here - one might think one agrees, but one must *always* be aware that the majority of people here seem to believe that the primary problem is that the Democrats are in power, and that the solution is to replace them with the GOP. That is why I get aggravated with the constant "Obama Stinks" pieces. Is there any need to convince anyone here of that? How is that constructive?

I don't think an honest, intelligent conservative can deny that the GOP failed them miserably last time. BETRAYED them, really. I'm referring here to the last presidency and the GOP Congress that held power through much of it. That remains who the GOP is, and it is clear that their record is one of reckless expansion of government, of extreme fiscal irresponsibility, of insane deficit spending, and of instituting massive federal social programs - in other words, the GOP is currently an anti-conservative force. That much, I believe, is inarguable. So what should be the first priority of conservatives - to return to power a radical, anti-conservative party, or to steer that party back toward conservatism? And by "conservatism" here I mean fiscal responsibility, small constitutional government, balanced budgets, and patriotic immigration reform (to ensure that this last wave of immigrants has time to assimilate in order to maintain and cultivate traditional American culture). Forget foreign policy - we can hash that out later. And if the first priority of conservatives is to steer the GOP back to conservatism - which is to say, to RECAPTURE the GOP - what good does it do to spend most of our time criticizing Obama? We are not going to - and nor should we try to - change the Democratic Party. We SHOULD be trying to reform the GOP to get it to embrace and advance the conservative principles domestically at least.

I agree that President Obama has screwed up in several areas. However as a moderate I do think its interesting to watch the two sides point fingers while playing down or ignoring their own mistakes. Obama isn't the only President rubbing elbows with terrorists: apparently the right has conveniently forgotten Orlando Bosch.. the guy was a world-class terrorist. Apparently doing an occasional job for the CIA gives you the right to be a terrorist. The guy has spent decades bombing everyone and everything. Yet Bush Sr turned him loose from prison. .... I believe people were so consumed by their hatred for Bush, they ignored the red flags.

They ignored barry's associations with jeremiah wright, bill ayers, acorn....and so on.

They ignored that he was endorsed by Castro, Louis Farrakhan, Al Sharpton, ACLU, all unions, etc.

They ignored that he had no experience running anything in his life.

They were wooed by his charisma and oration skills (Hitler's were great too).

They ignored the checks that weren't taken to ensure his eligibility.

They wanted to show how tolerant they were electing a black man choosing to ignore that he was also white.

Read through the list atrocities that Obama and his fellow thugs in the Democrat party have perpetrated since he started to pollute the Office of President. Then consider that the list that Mr. Hyman presents does not include all the unconstitutional acts they have done, such as taking over General Motors, various financial institutions, and other acts for which there is no Constitutional authority. Now, ask yourself, are you sure that there will be an election in 2012? In fact, are you sure that there will be an election in 2010. Is it not possible that if the Democrats now in power, who consider themselves to be our rulers, not our employees which they are supposed to be, perceive that they will lose their majorities in Congress, they would create a "crisis" so severe that they will have to "suspend" the election?
Also, the reason the Obama is so sympathetic to dictators such as Chavez, and that Honduran gangster who wants to become President for Life, is that our first half-black president, wants the same thing for himself.

This is a nice compilation of what we already know. In fact, we all knew his history and lack of fitness to be president before he was elected. It's no surprise that he won the support of our decadent media and entertanment elites and lower income Americans, who tend to be uninformed and on the left side of the IQ scale. But he won the well-off suburbanite vote, too. These are the voters that enrage me. They provided the margin for this dangerous man to be president. They are self-loathing, shallow and valueless. The saying that “You are what you eat” is equivalent to saying that you are what you say. This very good article puts into context what the majority of Americans now believe about Obama. They believe this about him because, to believe otherwise, one would have to be a fool, a self-deceiving liar, a liberal or maybe all three at once. The only good thing that it likely to come from Obama’s presidency is that democrats, liberal ones in particular, are in the near future going to be out of power for at least a generation. So, what is the point of all this striving for an ultra liberal America if this electoral disaster awaits them?

When the obituary of the Obama administration is written—hopefully next year—will any of these people reflect on the obvious fact that Obama basically lied his way into the White House (about his personal characteristics and policies) and that he was if anything very lucky to get there in the first place? Not likely; these people are in a different universe entirely.

People are not taking out frustrations. Words mean things, and words spoken with any weight need to have facts behind them. This is a list of monumental lies, and bigotry of an order many times higher than anything you might quote as a myth or superstition. America is unique in history as a font of freedom in which everyone in world wishes to live. This article is a factual listing of ACTIONS taken by this man. Actions have a basis in beliefs, whether you like them or not. You cannot re-write history (which, by the way is a communist dialectic) to suit your agenda. Right on the money, but there are PLENTY of rank-and-file "caring" liberals who still think that black people only do wrong when white people force them to (Rousseau’s’ insidious Noble Savage LIVES). In other words, Obama’s support is still rock-solid among a giant swath of liberals (Bob, this is your cue!).

What stuns me - and has since Obama burst onto the national scene - is the perpetuation of the meme that he is charismatic, charming and likeable. Really? If he had the same personality and were white, he wouldn't have a friend or admirer in the world. He's prickly, thin-skinned, utterly devoid of sympathy and empathy, supercilious, arrogant, condescending, cold, cruel and completely inaccessible emotionally. He is in fact a sociopath.

And when it comes to brains, he ain’t all that, folks. On the contrary, his sawdust-dry intellect is hopelessly pedestrian, unimaginative and derivative. It is eminently clear that an original thought has never crossed the transom of his mind and sullied a single one of his ideological, doctrinaire, dogmatic, reflexive synapses.

It makes my blood BOIL that commentators, liberal and conservative alike, STILL pay obeisance to this 100% untrue myth of likeability. He has all the charm of a reptile, all the warmth and fuzziness of corpse, and all of the bonhomie of a surly serial killer.

Like the Fort Hood killer, Obama’s arrival at a place and time in which, tragically, he has the ability to dictate the course of people’s lives, does NOT reflect the exertion of the better angels of our nature – in Hasan’s case, our culture’s genuflection before the false idol of “diversity” and in Obama’s case our culture’s genuflection before the false idol of absolution of white guilt. Rather, our enablement of both of these people to wreak destruction speaks to the worst devils of our nature: Our own egos.

For in the end, the murder of those people at Fort Hood, and the carte blanche we’ve given Obama to pillage and then tear down the edifice of American Exceptionalism, can be laid squarely at the clay feet of that age-old sin: Vanity.

The supreme irony is that liberalism’s central theme is that the enlightened can overcome the baseness of human nature and force others to adhere to their selfless vision. And whenever liberalism wins, it is that very hubris that ultimately brings down the heavy curtain of nihilism on innocent bystanders and ushers in the apotheosis of selfishness - to the point where a few dead in Fort Hood is a small price to pay to for the self-flattering sound of the word “diversity” and the enslavement of the American populace merely underscores the fictive superiority of those who bray that no one is better than anyone else.

My husband just told me that GW went down to Ft. Hood the day after the massacre to comfort the families of the slain. He found it online. He insisted no cameras, no media, but it was leaked. God bless him. Just a little good news in the midst.
In fact, I bet that's the only reason Obama went down there. Because he found out GW was there and he couldn't be "outdone". I know wasn't because he gave a damn.

Seems to me that our Dear Leader may want to become Secretary-General of the U.N. when his term (or two terms) are over. I agree with every Obama observation in this article except for one. Obama does too believe in American exceptionalism. He believes that America is exceptionally evil, and he's just the doctor to provide the exorcism. I would me much less concerned about the company Mr Obama kept if only he did not agree with them so much or mimic their wrongheadedness in his own words, writings, and deeds.

As a side note, I must agree with one point Mr Obama has made: that the United States is, in fact, not a "Christian nation". Rather we are a nation largely of Christians. If the US were a "Christian nation" we would be no more than a theocracy in different colors. In that subtly different arrangement of the words resides the liberty that we all cherish.

Let me ask you - do you believe this piece to be in any way constructive? Telling AmSpec readers that Obama is crap? What is the point? Is there anyone here who doesn't already accept that, including myself? If the purpose of this magazine is to raise the self-esteem of mainstream conservatives, to get them to pump their fist in agreement at reading things that coincide in every way with what they already believe then job well done. Otherwise it seems to me like a ridiculous and stupid waste of time. Everyone here already despises Obama. More "Obama Stinks" pieces isn't going to accomplish squat, and it's not going to fix the GOP.

What is needed is a critical look at what ails the GOP, at where the GOP went wrong, at why the GOP lost the last election, at why the GOP's stewardship of our country ended in such mitigated disaster. What is needed is to hear differing conservative viewpoints on what happened, why it happened and how to fix it. These arguments need to be made, need to be aired, need to be read and need to be compared. What is needed is a concerted effort not only to get the GOP back in power, but to get it back into Conservatism - small government, fiscally responsible, Constitutional conservatism.

What is not needed is a concerted effort to sway Republicans away from Obama. It's taking "preaching to the choir" to a whole new level.

So for me, this post was written to provide me with a not-before-seen list of actions taken by the current POTUS, potentially gaining AmSpec a new reader who might even throw some money their way to maybe buy a subscription or book or something.

To not be able to see this speaks to a monumental blindness - a hubris on the level of our Congress or the POTUS - which fails to even fully process, let alone attempt to comprehend, the world around them. It's not all about you, Sparky, nor your elite cadre of whatever-they-ares with whom you "associate" online.

I didn't feel after reading this piece that my time had been wasted. I did after reading your comments. What most here are forgetting is that Obama didn't get to be president by himself. For years he was groomed and supported by a group as of now unknown. This group is made up partly of democrats that wanted a puppet in office and partly by non-americans who wanted to change the American government and to foster a more global government and to take over the financial forces in the world. Right now it is impossible to determine who all these people are but we will find out in due time.

Obama is a pretty face with a good speaking voice and is brainwashed by his upbringing and by his puppet masters. Even if we get rid of Obama we still have to deal with those behind him.

Well, my bumper-sticker contest didn't go very far yesterday, so let me try another tack. How about a contest in which the object is to produce a sentence semantically equivalent to "Barack Obama despises America." Here are some samples to start with:

Notice how the sentences may be either analytic or synthetic in form, but are nonetheless identical semantically. They all state something so obvious that we would have few occasions to say any of them. My examples don't quite reach the level of "Barack Obama despises America," but that's the object of the contest. Any takers?

What I did not find anywhere on this page was the understanding that the system which allowed an admitted domestic terrorist ... whose most notable life's accomplishments were to set off bombs that killed and maimed innocent people to enter academia and inject several generations of young Americans with his venom - this same system has put Barack Hussein to the White House. This system allowed another America hater of Islamic creed, Nidal Hasan, to become a major in the US military, and eventually a mass murderer. Amasingly, that Bill Ayers became a mass murderer first, and educator of your children after that!

This list can be continued and it is long, so I'll just reiterate: the failure is systemic, so it is the system which needs to be repaired - just to remove the impostor from the position wouldn't suffice.

The government is made up of citizens; the government submits to the will of the people in regular elections; the people send its chosen representatives to serve in government.

All of these things are true. But it is really true to say the people are the government. It's not how the term "the people" works in the Constitution, and it's just not how the term works in the English language.

Their first response is to call it all nonsense or crazy but then they cannot provide any specific facts to refute the information. Glad to see another admirer of Mr. Sore-ass on this site. His breathtaking efforts on behalf of the U.S. Dollar seem to finally be paying off. Consider that the Bank of India recently exchanged 6.7 billion U.S. Dollars for 200 tons of gold. This shot the gold price to record highs and at least through yesterday this value increase continued. At the same time, it increased the supply of OUR dollar in the world market. Then recently on Drudge there was a link to a story that the Chinese are considering floating the value of the renminbi on the foreign exchange market. Currently, they strive to keep the exchange rate between the yuan and the buck within a controlled range. If they change this policy and no one buys treasuries at their next auction, it will be a clear sign that there is no demand for OUR currency. Guess what happens to OUR money as the supply increases and the demand decreases. We are in for that very crisis beavisbud seeks. I just wish I knew how sore-ass is placing his bets. I know at least one of his againsts, but so far I have not figured out where he’s placed his chips. Maybe he’ll email me his secrets.

The one flaw in the article is that it is far too kind to Obama. He's much worse than this article paints.

For example, there's no mention that he hires (and presents) such creatures as Sonia Sotomayer, Rahm Emmanuel, Cass Sunstein, and Larry Summers as moderates, when they're in fact as far left as any of those mentioned. To hire openly communist thugs is bad enough, but they're easily exposed. Due to my obligations to this country as one of it's sworn protectors, my opinions must be reserved to myself about our current CinC. I've already seen many of the government spending cuts towards military health care and veteren's already meager care and benefits. American liberals have long identified Europe as a sort of left-wing utopia. More so than the United States, European countries have experimented with various forms of socialism, but these implementations were largely in small, homogenous countries – the only environment where socialism has ever “worked.” As Christopher Caldwell has pointed out:

Europeans have deeper blood and soil roots than most Americans. They have real nations, in the sense of the Latin natio, implying link by blood. My Dad was in Normandy. He had a burst appendix and another soldier took his place. That young man was killed in action as soon as he hit the battlefield. My Dad is now 77 yrs. old. He only just told me about it last Summer. For the first time in my life, I understood my Dad.

In the various facts which show Obama's lack of Patriotism,and lack of protocol abroad, in this (Mark Hyman's) article, one not mentioned, had to do with our formerly good relationship with England.
1. He gave thoughtless gifts to both the Queen and the Prime Minister when he visited here.
2. He rejected the offer of continued display of the Churchill bust in the White House
3. The Obama's lack of proper protocol when visiting the Queen of England--touching etc.
A friend in Germany was astonished at the lack of protocol and over familiarity the Obama's exhibited when the TV showed their visit with Queen Elizabeth.

Great article Mark. It has been a long time that I've seen so many comments generated in such a short time. I agree that Obama is trying to tear down all America has stood for and build it back in his own way. Unfortunately, no one will like the "Change" that he foresees.

As for the comments on slavery, nothing has kept the African-Americans down so much as the liberal programs that keep them without complete families, uneducated and wards of the state. Michael Connelly of Carrollton , Texas is a retired Constitutional lawyer and has read the entire health care bill and has some comments, not about the bill, but about the effects on our Constitution. It's a broader picture than just health care reform.
It's time we sit up and pay attention; once this sort of thing happens, it will be irreversible. We have reason to be very afraid of what is happening.
THE TRUTH ABOUT THE HEALTH CARE BILLS

Well, I have done it! I have read the entire text of proposed House Bill 3200: The Affordable Health Care Choices Act of 2009. I studied it with particular emphasis from my area of expertise, constitutional law. I was frankly concerned that parts of the proposed law that were being discussed might be unconstitutional. What I found was far worse than what I had heard or expected.

To begin with, much of what has been said about the law and its implications is in fact true, despite what the Democrats and the media are saying. The law does provide for rationing of health care, particularly where senior citizens and other classes of citizens are involved, free health care for illegal immigrants, free abortion services, andprobably forced participation in abortions by members of the medical profession.

The Bill will also eventually force private insurance companies out of business and put everyone into a government run system. All decisions about personal health care will ultimately be made by federal bureaucrats and most of them will not be health care professionals. Hospital admissions, payments to physicians, and allocations of necessary medical devices will be strictly controlled.

However, as scary as all of that it, it just scratches the surface. In fact, I have concluded that this legislation really has no intention of providing affordable health care choices. Instead, it is a convenient cover for the most massive transfer of power to the Executive Branch of government that has ever occurred, or even been contemplated. If this law or a similar one is adopted, major portions of the Constitution of the United States will effectively have been destroyed.
The first thing to go will be the masterfully crafted balance of power between the Executive, Legislative, and Judicial branches of the U.S. Government. The Congress will be transferring to the Obama Administration authority in a number of different areas over the lives of the American people and the businesses they own. The irony is that the Congress doesn't have any authority to legislate in most of those areas to begin with. I defy anyone to read the text of the U.S. Constitution and find any authority granted to the members of Congress to regulate health care.

This legislation also provides for access by the appointees of the Obama administration of all of your personal healthcare information, your personal financial information, and the information of your employer, physician, and hospital. All of this is a direct violation of the specific provisions of the 4th Amendment to the Constitution protecting against unreasonable searches and seizures. You can also forget about the right to privacy. That will have been legislated into oblivion regardless of what the 3rd and 4th Amendments may provide.

If you decide not to have healthcare insurance or if you have private insurance that is not deemed "acceptable" to the "Health Choices Administrator" appointed by Obama there will be a tax imposed on you. It is called a "tax" instead of a fine because of the intent to avoid application of the due process clause of the 5th Amendment. However, that doesn't work because since there is nothing in the law that allows you to contest or appeal the imposition of the tax, it is definitely depriving someone of property without the "due process of law.

So, there are three of those pesky amendments that the far left hate so much out the original ten in the Bill of Rights that are effectively nullified by this law. It doesn't stop there though. The 9th Amendment that provides: "The enumeration in the Constitution, of certain rights, shall not be construed to deny or disparage others retained by the people." The 10th Amendment states: "The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are preserved to the States respectively, or to the people." Under the provisions of this piece of Congressional handiwork neither the people nor the states are going to have any rights or powers at all in many areas that once were theirs to control.

I could write many more pages about this legislation, but I think you get the idea. This is not about health care; it is about seizing power and limiting rights. Article 6 of the Constitution requires the members of both houses of Congress to "be bound by oath or affirmation" to support the Constitution. If I was a member of Congress, I would not be able to vote for this legislation or anything like it without feeling I was violating that sacred oath or affirmation. If I voted for it anyway, I would hope the American people would hold me accountable.

I would urge those on the right to take a look at the contempt some within the RNC harbor for you.

For all of its pretense, I am beginning to think that AmSpec is really no more than a cog in the GOP noise machine.

I used to think otherwise, but this unhinged rant is so ridiculous and so in line with what Limbaugh, Beck et. al. are saying that I now have serious doubts about this site as a serious place for reading about and debating issues.
