Fox News’ Megyn Kelly showcased the incident surrounding the Rand Paul debate on her afternoon show. She played the by now well-viewed video of a Paul supporter stepping on a MoveOn.org protester as she was brought down in a scuffle outside the debate. But importantly, Ms. Kelly had also obtained a second video that clearly contradicted protester Lauren Valle’s tale that she was just a simple protester holding a sign when she was done wrong.
In fact, a second video scooped by Kelly until today clearly shows Valle trying to forcibly shove her sign into the open window of Paul’s vehicle as it passed by — potentially injuring Paul or the nearest occupant to the open window. It was a clear provocation and easily seen as a signal of potentially impending violence towards Paul. Which in turn surely set off the angry reaction from Paul supporters, a seeming security-type instantly moving into view in the second video. The second video completely contradicts Valle’s depiction of herself as just some innocent bystander inexplicably set upon by fevered Paul supporters.
On his evening newscast, Fox’s Shepherd Smith showed the first incident — but not the second. Nor was there even a mention of the second video or even its existence — shown only moments before Smith’s three o’clock show aired.
