Team Clinton Says Personal History Is Important – If You’re Marco Rubio

Team Ready for Hillary is incensed.

The prospective candidate must be held accountable! This person’s history must be laid bare for everyone to see! Questionable friendships must be discussed, alliances must be disclosed and everyone must now know who they are, where they were, and why they were together!

They’re talking about Marco Rubio of course. That mild-mannered, soft-spoken Senator from Florida whose past is plagued with scandal and intrigue, belly-up law firms, deleted emails, and flung lighting. Oh, wait. Sorry. That’s Hillary Clinton. But it doesn’t change that Ready for Hillary wants something done and wants it done now, because personal accountability is paramount where political candidates are concerned.

“This will be an issue,” declared Craig Smith, a top adviser for the Ready for Hillary super PAC, echoing the views of many supporters and detractors alike. “When you run for president, voters and the press have an insatiable appetite for people’s histories, what they’ve done, who they are. … It raises questions about his judgment, about the kind of people he would bring with him into government, into a campaign.”

The “issue” in question is a decrepit Florida home that’s right now being sold following a foreclosure. Marco Rubio’s name is on the deed, as is David Riveria’s. Riveria, it seems, is a political grenade, according to POLITICO, a “scandal plagued former Congressman under investigation in a campaign finance probe.” And yes, he’s bad news. But as the POLITICO article dances around, not so much for Rubio. The most notable connection between the two is the Florida house, which got hit by the housing market downturn and, apparently, a whole mess of water, got mired in money trouble and is now up for sale, a process which has, by the looks of it, been aboveboard.

It’s an odd alliance, no question, but hardly a scandal worthy of, say, the Clinton brand. So far as we know, there aren’t 30,000 deleted emails, or questionable financial contributions from Chinese businessmen, and the parties involved have yet to board any flights chartered by Jeffrey Epstein.

But you be you, Ready for Hillary spokesman. You be you.
