Scrambling to Oversimplify
by

I was amused by this item over at Frum Forum. Various writers, including me, are described as scrambling for “excuses” to explain the NY-26 loss. But the post doesn’t bother to offer an actual arguments as to why these explanations are false or unpersuasive. It is simply assumed to be self-evident that the deciding factor was Paul Ryan’s plan for Medicare and no other factor needs to be considered or discussed, let alone refuted.

Now, as a matter of fact, I think I gave a pretty balanced appraisal of what went wrong in NY-26 and what the implications could be. But pretending that Jack Davis is meaningless and that this was an ordinary election strikes me as pretty silly.
