John Conyers Back on Ballot
by

As I predicted recently, a judge has ordered that Rep. John Conyers (D-MI) name be placed on the primary ballot despite Conyers’ not having turned in enough signatures to make the ballot. The reason was that a few of the signature collectors were not properly registered as voters while they were collecting the signatures, a requirement which the judge has ruled unconstitutional — following a similar ruling in an Ohio case six years ago.

So Conyers will run again, win again, and now be the longest-serving current member of the House of Representatives. It’s time for him to go, but I think the judge was right on the legal issue.
