John Derbyshire is a racist.
Says John Derbyshire.
For all the fuss over the John Derbyshire firing from NR on issues of race, perhaps it’s best to simply quote Derbyshire on Derbyshire in a 2003 interview mentioned here in Red State , with a link to the original here.
Says Mr. Derbyshire of himself:
“I am a homophobe, though a mild and tolerant one, and a racist, though an even more mild and tolerant one, and those things are going to be illegal pretty soon, the way we are going.”
Which explains his views as expressed in the now infamous Taki article that ended his relationship with National Review where, among other things, Derbyshire opined thusly:
“If you are at some public event at which the number of blacks suddenly swells, leave as quickly as possible.”
So now we know what would happen if Derbyshire were at an all-white cocktail party in the District of Columbia and “the number of blacks suddenly swells.” He would run.
Doubtless the just arrived — Justice Clarence Thomas, Congressman Allen West and Herman Cain — would be amused.
