“Atlas Shrugged” the Movie… and Musical?
by

The producers of the upcoming motion picture, Atlas Shrugged: Part 1, have some tricks up their sleeves to entice the crowds. The film, based on Ayn Rand’s iconic (and very long) novel, will be followed by two more installments to conclude the story, and the conclusion just might have the audience singing.

Two clips, previewed at a luncheon event featuring producers John Aglialoro and Harmon Kaslow, left little to the imagination regarding the film’s story. But that doesn’t mean that the producers aren’t full of creative ideas that are worthy of a double take. Aglialoro said “the ending is tough,” so he’s floating the idea of Atlas Shrugged: Part 3 becoming a musical to do Rand’s ending justice. Hopefully there will be jazz hands involved.

“Victor Hugo was one of Ayn Rand’s favorite authors,” Aglialoro said. He continued by saying people couldn’t imagine Les Miserables adapted as a Broadway musical, but it worked and was successful.

The producers will keep open minds until they begin filming Part 3, which is estimated to be released in about two years. Until then, they are focused on marketing Part 1 so they can continue filming the rest of the book. Atlas Shrugged Part 1 is slated to hit theaters across the country on the ill-fated tax day-April 15.
