Fred Lucas has a piece on the main site asking whether Ron or Rand Paul would be a stronger 2012 Republican presidential candidate. But the Paul dynasty may grow beyond that: another of Ron Paul’s sons, Robert Paul, is considering running for U.S. Senate from Texas.
Like his father and brother, Robert is a doctor and libertarian-leaning Republican. Like Rand, Robert campaigned for his father during the 2008 presidential race. The Star-Telegram article I link to above cites the crowded Republican field vying to replace Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison and how much money it would cost to win a Senate seat in Texas. But Paul the elder has placed near the top of polls testing that Senate race and Rand’s campaign proved other Pauls can have successful money bombs. It will be interesting to watch.
