A Must-See-and-Share 10-Minute YouTube Video About Public Schools Sowing Gender Dysphoria Into Children

Imam Mustafa Umar of the Islamic Institute of Orange County expresses his opposition to gender ideology in California public schools. (Youtube/ brenda lebsack)

I don’t usually promote YouTube videos because there a million awful ones and a million great ones. But one came across my desk yesterday, and it is a cut above.

Here in Orange County, California, a broadly diverse group of religious leaders of all faiths, and parents and students of all ethnicities, races, and backgrounds appear in a 10-minute video about the gender dysphoria sickness in the public schools, the pure evil of teaching children that many boys are not boys and that many girls are not girls. If no one will call it “pure evil” to inculcate this pablum into vulnerable children, I will. All of science is settled on this. Even the Mayo Clinic reports:

Gender dysphoria is a diagnosis listed in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-5), a manual published by the American Psychiatric Association to diagnose mental conditions.

In a well conceived and constructed 10-minute video, Catholic priests, Protestant pastors, Muslim imams, an Orthodox rabbi, Hispanic parents and students, Asian American parents and students, people of all colors, male and female, come together, one by one, to call out the California public school system for its crime against humanity, trying to teach impressionable children that they are not necessarily what they most certainly are. The video is found here. Please watch it and share it. And don’t think for a moment that this California evil is limited to this crazy state. It is coming to a theater near you — and to your children . . . and your grandchildren. They would be safer on a movie set with Alec Baldwin.

We just need to think back to when we were kids to recall how impressionable we could be in some ways. There was a time when some of us could be fooled into liking foods we did not. (“I want my May-po!”) That parental effort did not work on all kids, but it worked on some. There is a reason that deceptive-advertising laws have been applied in many states, if not nationally, to regulate television commercials that are aimed at kids when they promote sugary cereals. Think about something as simple as that. Why regulate Kellogg’s or Post or General Mills ads that aim at persuading kids to be like Cap’n Crunch or Fred and Barney on Cocoa Pebbles or the Trix “silly rabbit” and to eat a sugary cereal that, as a side after-thought, has some vitamins and minerals pumped in?

G-d knows what kids watch on TV nowadays on Saturday mornings, the time when my Orthodox Jewish community is in synagogue worshipping and observing the Holy Sabbath, but that used to be the time for most other American kids to pump their brains with cartoons. Given such a captive audience, the cereal makers and soda distributors would converge to advertise. The government intervened: kids are too impressionable, and they can be convinced of anything, so no sugar ads in those time slots. As if a 5-year-old watching such an ad — and persuaded by it — thereupon will march out of the house, forgetting half of his or her pajamas, with no money, and will buy out the breakfast cereal section of the local supermarket. Can’t parents control what their tykes and even 8-year-olds eat? But they made laws and applied others to allow lawsuits against companies seeking to mislead impressionable children. See, e.g., Committee on Children’s Television, Inc. v. General Foods Corp., 35 Cal.3d 197197 Cal. Rptr. 783673 P.2d 660 (1983):

A specific statement of the advertisements seen and relied upon by the individual plaintiffs would serve to demonstrate both that they possess a valid cause of action in their individual capacity and that they are proper representatives for the class plaintiffs. . . .  A long-term advertising campaign may seek to persuade by cumulative impact, not by a particular representation on a particular date. Children in particular are unlikely to recall the specific advertisements which led them to desire a product, but even adults buying a product in a store will not often remember the date and exact message of the advertisements which induced them to make that purchase. Plaintiffs should be able to base their cause of action upon an allegation that they acted in response to an advertising campaign even if they cannot recall the specific advertisements.

[ ] Defendants further claim that the complaint is deficient because it describes one group, children, who receive the misrepresentations and a different group, parents, who purchase the product. . . . Defendants’ argument is inconsistent with the strategy of their own advertising. They are aware that the parents purchase the cereals, but they are also aware that parents do not exercise a totally independent judgment, but are influenced by the desires of their children. If such were not the case, defendants would not spend millions to advertise cereals on children’s programs watched by very few adult purchasers.

Defendants engaged in a nationwide, long-term advertising campaign designed to persuade children to influence their parents to buy sugared cereals. Adapted to its audience, the campaign sought to persuade less by direct representation than by imagery and example.

Similarly, certain scary movies or TV shows induce nightmares in kids. The Twilight Zone episode in which Martin Balsam took home five wax statues of murderers and kept them in his basement left me so scared as an impressionable ten-year-old boy that I would not go downstairs into my parents’ basement for almost a year. There were no statues in that basement. Jack the Ripper had been dead for 75 years, and besides, he slashed women in England, and we lived among law-abiding Orthodox Jews in a quiet peaceful Canarsie section of Brooklyn. The main thing we had in the basement was our Passover dishes, cookware, and flatware. But I was not going down to that basement. And I then was in fifth grade.

So now they instead tell boys in the second or third grade that, because they like to paint with their fingers or maybe sing, that the boys might really be girls inside, yearning to menstruate. They tell girls that, because they like to climb trees or shoot hoops with Daddy or play with toy trucks, they really are boys who want to have a penis with which to urinate and put out California wildfires. They get into the kids’ heads — just as Kellogg’s and Post and General Mills did with their sugary cereals, just as scary movies and TV shows have done since time immemorial — and they make the kids crazy. They fail to teach math and reading, and California’s public schools are ranked in the country’s lowest quarter. But they are leaders in persuading kids in their custody to develop gender dysphoria. And the show is traveling cross-country to your state’s public schools, too.

What motivates this pure evil? So many things. For mentally ill public school teachers, it makes them feel more normal if they can convince others who are normal to be like them instead. It is their cause, their religious ministry bereft of G-d. If they can get 10 or 50 boys and girls to switch teams, then it must demonstrate that the teacher himself or herself is normal. But there are only two genders: male and female. There are not 10 or four or even three. There is no non-binary. This is a mental illness, failure to come to terms with what one is, a matter that almost always resolves naturally by adulthood if not by adolescence, and certainly with psychological counseling. It is about coming to accept who one is and, with proper guidance, to embrace and celebrate it. Boys can love painting, dancing, and even Broadway musicals, Barbara Streisand, and hair cutting. Girls can love softball, baseball, and even kick-boxing. In every generation, there are a few males and females who are homosexual, and they have a separate life challenge to navigate that is outside the present discussion.

Other public school teachers — the vast majority, obviously — are not gender dysphoric. They know exactly what body parts they came with and know what they are: male or female. But they are oh-so-woke, oh-so-understanding. And yet they really are not — they understand nothing. And what would make them experts in teaching children and teens in their pedagogic care about such a severely critical mental illness as gender dysphoria — some courses they took to get a public-school teaching license?

The only good thing that has come of this is that more parents in states like California are pulling their kids out of the public schools and — despite the tuition’s heavy financial burden — moving them either into Catholic parochial schools, Orthodox yeshiva day schools, other religious schools, or simply into non-sectarian expensive private schools. Faced with public schools more concerned about teaching children that America was founded to propagate and perpetuate racism and slavery, and that boys should consider having their male organs removed and silicone balloons inserted into their chests, while girls should have their tops removed and an extension piece sewn onto their lower orifices, parents are willing to pay for their children to stay away or just homeschool.

And who gets left behind when the public schools change curricula from real arithmetic to woke math, from real grammar and diction to street slang, from real American history about the Declaration of Independence and Constitution, where cursive writing is not taught but critical racial theory dictates the curriculum? The same ones who always get left behind, the victims of each new Left-Liberal-Progressive-Woke experiment from Lyndon Johnson’s “The Great Society” to “Affirmative Action” to suspending grade-standards testing and admissions exams. The Woke now condemn for future generations the children now under their pedagogic care who will be disadvantaged the rest of their lives, whose parents will blame their failures to advance years from now and their exclusion from the American Dream on “Systemic Racism” and on “White Privilege.” For yet another generation, they will fail to notice that it was the Woke “Progressives” who destroyed yet another of their generations, even as newly arriving Immigrants of All Colors from Everywhere Else will have absolutely no problem whatsoever leap-frogging them simply by avoiding accepting help and dangerously bizarre educational theories from the Left.
