Our friend Matthew Cunningham of Red County agrees with Phil Klein’s take on Marco Rubio’s speech today. Now, let’s help this rising star develop — and give him TIME to develop — rather than doing the usual modern game of immediately anointing him a political savior. Conservatives will be thrilled if Rubio wins the Senate seat. They should not make the mistake of immediately suggesting him for president. Instamatic savior-mongering is a pox on the body politic, a problem for conservatives… and a detriment to the would-be savior himself or herself. That said, Cunningham’s analysis of Rubio’s speech is itself great reading, and it is a very heartening report.
