Tim Pawlenty had a very solid record as governor. He would be a safe choice as the GOP nominee. He might be a pretty good president. But the reason his shrinking from a fight with Romney on Monday night was important has nothing to do with whether he hurt his own campaign. I explain the REAL loss to conservatives here, at CFIF.
After my column went up, my friend Scott McKay at TheHayride (in Louisiana) sent me his debate comments from Monday night in which his thoughts on Pawlenty are remarkably similar to my later thoughts.
