Say what you will about the turmoil in the Republican Party and the violence that has occurred at Donald Trump’s rallies, but things aren’t exactly peaches and cream with the Democrats either — especially in Nevada.
You may remember that while Hillary Clinton won the Nevada Caucuses in February, Bernie Sanders cleaned up at the County Conventions the following month. Well, on Saturday, the Nevada Democratic Party basically discounted the votes at the County Conventions despite the fact the majority of delegates did not agree to this on a voice vote.
Things got worse at the end of the Convention when a motion was made on the floor to recount the delegates, but Nevada Democratic Party Chairwoman Roberta Lange moved to invalidate the motions and adjourned the convention before the nays were acknowledged. This prompted chairs to be thrown around, forcing armed guards to turn out the light and turn up the music and send everyone home. Following the convention, Lange received numerous threats, prompting Nevada Democrats to issue a formal complaint to the DNC claiming the Sanders campaign “actively incited disruption and violence.”
For all the problems Republicans are having getting behind Donald Trump, it appears that Bernie supporters are even less eager to get behind Hillary Clinton. While this story is getting some coverage, if anything like this had occurred at a Republican state convention it would have been the number one story in the country, if not the entire world.
Of course, if this kind of chaos replicates itself in Philadelphia at the Democratic National Convention in a little over 2 months from now, it won’t be so easy to ignore or at the very least downplay although I have no doubt the mainstream media would try.
