They used to say the Phil Mickelson was the best golfer never to win a major. Mickelson broke through with his first major after a dozen years on the circuit, including 17 top-ten finishes and six second- or third-place finishes between 1999 and 2003. Tiger Woods has now gone more than five years without a major. That makes him the best golfer never to win a major since being hit in the face with a golf club by his own wife (now ex-wife).
