It occurs to me that this illustrates how the debate on Iraq, in both primary races, is so oddly detached from reality. The Democrats are talking about who has the best retreat plan, as if it’s still 2006 and Iraq just keeps getting bloodier and bloodier. The Republicans are debating who supported the surge when. But no one is seriously engaging the question of what we do after the surge — you know, in three months.
