Apropos J.P.’s post, I’d be remiss if I didn’t link to Fred Cedoz’ excellent analysis of U.S. energy policy in The Journal of International Security Affairs. The piece may be a couple of years old, but it is still spot-on. His conclusion: “We have the opportunity to deal OPEC a crippling, and possibly fatal, blow by implementing a real energy security strategy-one that will make us less susceptible to wild commodity pricing swings and allow us to change the rules of the oil dependency game, lessening our demand for oil imports and becoming selective as to our imported energy partners. These goals are not unrealistic. Nor are they unachievable. It is long past time for us to start. “
