Others focus on a different part of the interview in which Romney defends himself on the flip flopper charge. He seems to concede a success to McCain on this scoe but sticks to his story that it’s essentially just his abortion stance that he has changed. ( His opponents and others who have followed him will give the full list if asked of course.) It is clear I think he’ll come out swinging tonight on immigration. If (the “if” is the problem) he can get away from his own vulnerabilities and to the merits the issue would likely help him regain some footing. He might as well roll the dice tonight and see if he can make up a lot of ground in 48 hours. ( By the way, he was right about one thing: early primary momentum does matter.)
