Where is Dzhokhar Tsarnaev? – UPDATED
by

As I write this, Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick, Boston Mayor Tom Menino and Massachusetts State Police Timothy Alben are holding a press conference in Watertown.

Governor Patrick announced that the shelter in place order has been lifted and the MBTA is resuming service.

Meanwhile, Dzhokhar Tsarnaev is still at large.

So where is he?

There are three possibilities:

A) He is hiding in Watertown.

B) He fled the city, possibily the jurisdiction.

C) He has joined his older brother in that special place in hell reserved for him.

Colonel Alben said he believes Tsarnaev is still in Massachusetts.

I hope Governor Patrick knows what he’s doing by lifting the MBTA suspension. The greatest thing I fear is that Tsarnaev boards a bus, subway or commuter rail train and does even more grievous harm.

UPDATE 8:29 p.m.: At about 6:40 p.m., my roomie Christopher and I made our way to Doyle’s as we often do in times of trouble. Shortly after our arrival, WHDH and FOX 25 reported the shots had been fired at 67 Franklin Street in Watertown.

Tsarnaev is holed up in a boat in the backyard at that address and is surrounded. Bill O’Reilly said that authorities were alerted to Tsarnaev’s presence by a resident who noticed blood on his shed in the backyard. Apparently, Tsarnaev was wounded in last night’s confrontation with authorities which resulted in the death of his older brother.

It is believed that Tsarnaev still has explosives and a robot has been sent to retrieve and dispose of the bombs. A number of explosions have been heard since the robot was sent to the address.

According to the Tsarnaev brothers’ mother, the FBI was in contact with elder brother Tamerlan. However, she also said her boys were being set up.

In another interesting development, New Bedford Police have arrested three people in connection with the younger Tsarnaev. New Bedford is a short distance away from UMass-Dartmouth which was evacuated earlier today.

So if you answered A), you’re right.

UPDATE 8:47 p.m.: FOX 25 is reporting that Tsarnaev has surrendered and was taken into custody after speaking with a hostage negotiator. Watertown residents reacted with applause. That’s the best news I’ve heard all day.

UPDATE 10:07 p.m.: During a press conference, it was revealed by Boston Police Commissioner Ed Davis that the resident at 67 Franklin went outside his home when he saw the blood on the shed, looked beneath the tarp and found Tsarnaev covered in blood. It was then that he returned inside and contacted authorities.

That resident must have been petrified both before and after he lifted the tarp. Well, if not for his actions, Tsarnaev might still be at large.
