I didn’t include Herman Cain in my wrap-up of the last debate
because I thought his performance was decent but not enough to
really have any impact on his campaign. The Florida straw poll is
just a straw poll, but the reports coming out of Orlando make me
wonder if I was premature in reaching that conclusion.
The Republican base by and large likes Cain, but many people
don’t think he can win. Others question how well he would govern
once he moves beyond generalities. But the first problem might be
surmountable if doubts about Rick Perry persist (I’m taking granted
that doubts about Mitt Romney will continue). Cain rose in the
polls after a solid early debate performance. It will be
interesting to see if Perry’s troubles help produce a Cain
comeback.

HermanCain is the candidate that's been right under our nose all along, except we have all been brainwashed and propagandized into thinking that our president must come from the political class.
HermanCain is by far the most likeable, sensible, articulate, honest, mature, business-experienced and capable of addressing problems and crises. Barring reconsideration by Daniels or Ryan or JebBush, etc, Cain's definitely the one. Further, he is the best one to mitigate the partisan divide. And maybe his leadership can put an end to all this cheap, trashy racism crap we keep hearing from desperate leftists...
All those activists in Florida could have easily opted for Bachmann or Santorum, but they did not even glance in their direction.
We find now through a DickMorris interview video that Cain started his career as a mathmatician working on Navy ballistics related to the Aegis system. Did not know he was a mathmatician, nor that he had experience related to military and defense.
HermanCain possesses all the conservative bonafides and fortunately demonstrates that he's not a crazed extremist. Served as board member of the KansasCity FederalReserve. This is our chance for the full unadulterated conservative.
Further, after properly introduced and vetted, Herman will beat Obama like a drum. Watch!
RefriedTomatoes| 9.26.11 @ 1:41PM
The key word is "unadulterated" as in, still in possession of his soul. Now watch as the Left springs into CDM (Candidate Destruction Mode) to pick apart is impressive resume that goes far beyond his "Pizza Man" moniker. He grew the Nat'l Restaurant Assoc (the "other" NRA) and presided over a well-managed Kansas City territory for the Federal Reserve.
I can't wait to see him knock the "fuzzy" of BHO's math, either. Class Dismissed.
Sean| 9.26.11 @ 2:11PM
I would like for him to address his support for TARP and why he was clueless on the economy from 2006-2008. He has many questions and he has no record in office.
A record in office would tell us if he is legit or not. We know Romney is a phony because when he was in office he acted in a liberal manner. Same with Rick Perry.
Bill B| 9.26.11 @ 2:34PM
Sean, you paulbot cultists have been posting this crap all over. Get dressed in real clothes instead of your teddy bear pajamas and come up out of your mommy's basement into the real world. Cain initially supported Tarp but when he got more info he changed his mind.
Sean| 9.26.11 @ 2:54PM
Bill B, do you have any real arguments or just ad hominem like the left.
Why would he initially support the government picking winners and losers in the market place? Why exactly did he change his mind after demonizing free market "purists"? Does he think it is constitutional for the government to give or lend money to banks, or for the federal government to take ownership positions in private companies?
aware| 9.26.11 @ 4:13PM
Don't worry about it. Just an example of the sorry state "conservatism" has descended to. As is the panicky herd running from one flash in the pan to another. Cain will take a Brody just like Perry before it's over.
He missed the crash because he doesn't know what's really going on, like many here. He probably thinks this is just "cyclical" and all we need is "tax cuts" and a new face in the White House to fix it.
NotPropagandized| 9.26.11 @ 5:13PM
Many supported TARP for defensible reason and then turned against it when TARP violated its approved purpose. HermanCain was one of those.
TARP got abused, and badly. Typical of USGovt beauracracy, cronyism and corruption.
Sean| 9.26.11 @ 6:20PM
It show a naivety in Cain. Our Constitution limits government because it can be used for ill purposes. Cain thinks he can manage big government and many in the Republicans are in the same boat. TARP was unconstitutional and a bad idea.
aware| 9.26.11 @ 7:59PM
TARP "got abused"? TARP is abuse. If you are willing to accept "government" picking winners and losers what won't you accept? No one who was aware of what was really going on "supported" TARP. Or ever could. Only dumbasses, group thinkers, and those that are part of the problem "accepted" TARP.
NotPropagandized| 9.26.11 @ 10:31PM
No argument here. The whole system is corrupt and it would have been nice to see the markets work themselves out. A lot of credible people without axes to grind were genuinely scared of what could happen had the world's banks all gone under. I don't come anywhere near knowing enough to dismiss such dire warnings. We have to get to a point where there are no excuses: you fail?, you fail, period.
Is there anybody that knows for a fact that without initial financial system bailout that the meltdown would not have been fatal. I've not heard that from any truly financial credible sources. Please provide if you can....
aware| 9.27.11 @ 6:28AM
Unfortunately TARP was the caboose of a train of government manipulations. No one can say what would have been, although Paulson and his lackeys are able to claim to have "saved" us from all kinds of calamity.
At the time the "saved" banks had about 52% of the market. Now they control about 76% and growing with every late Friday afternoon FDIC bank seizure. The underlying problems have not changed, in fact they are worse. The longer we hang on to the tiger's tail the madder it gets. No TARP would have meant a Great Depression and deflation which ultimately would have rewarded savers and prudence while wiping out debtors and speculators. Instead we are rewarding profligate borrowers and greedy lenders. At the same time we are making fools out of savers and the frugal by offering 0%(actually sub 0%) on their savings through inflationary policies of the central bank.
We have a system where "money" is created through debt issuance. In such a system it is important to make you believe that "credit" is a substitute for real savings. But credit expansion is the driver of misallocation and speculative bubbles, in other words the very cause of the meltdown. When the debt service becomes unsustainable the whole structure is exposed to collapse. It doesn't even take a large % of default to accomplish this, mortgages in default is under 10% in this current meltdown.
In a debt=money system failure to ever expand borrowing will mean no money is "created" and paying off debt will mean "money" disappears. This is why government is borrowing like never before(what Celente calls the Ultimate Bubble, the Debt Bubble). All credit bubbles collapse, and government debt bubbles are no exception.
TARP only kicked the can hoping people would borrow more money and keep the party going. Since people are drowning in debt and not borrowing government had to do the borrowing for them.
When this Ultimate Bubble pops, and it will, you will get the Greatest Depression and an epic collapse worldwide. TARP and other "measures" taken by government do not prevent this, instead it makes it inevitable and colossal.
That tiger is very mad indeed. I don't think 1 in a hundred thousand understand this. Only 1 running for president understands it and it isn't Cain.

Does it not puzzle you that Romney is not given a good questioning about his policies and what he sees as his Presidency ? I am not satisfied with the debate process. To be sure we need to know the down side of Perry-but this should also apply to all candidates. Lets give Romney a very slow and detailed vetting--right ?
LC| 9.26.11 @ 2:52PM
Romney has been vetted for YEARS and so was his father as Governor of Michigan.
I was too young to know of his dad, but, my father....a staunch Conservative, despised him. Romney is just another pretty boy who talks the talk. I want someone with sincerity and a true commitment.....not just a popularity contest. Herman Cain fills that bill.
Butch| 9.26.11 @ 5:43PM
Romney has been given three straight passes while Perry took potshots from all sides three straight times. I'm with you, Martin. This debate format stinks; in fact, I think it is doing harm, not good. Things that can be understood only in full context--and Perry's in-state tuition (not free) issue is one of those--cannot be answered in sound bites in a few seconds. This is no way to select a presidential candidate.
PS: To see the full context in that particular case, see the link that Ken the Texican has provided on a different thread.
martin j smith| 9.26.11 @ 2:47PM
And as for Cain: I am guessing but maybe when you actually look at Cain compared to others on the stage Cain actually looks and sounds pretty good.
Maybe there is a message here !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I had a the chance to meet Herman Cain at a fundraiser a couple of months ago. Regardless of what you think of his positions and supposed lack of experience:
He is a good man.
He is "real" in every sense of the word.
He likes people.
He will listen to you and talk with you, not at you.
He doesn't think he is smarter than everybody else.
He doesn't take himself too seriously.
He can laugh at himself (watch the Fox interview and smile as you see his reaction to a video of the SNL skit where the "actor" portraying him likens the US to a pizzeria).
He is dynamic.
He is inspiring.
He loves this country and is concerned about what kind of country we are leaving future generations.
He will pick the right people to advise him.
You can count on him doing what is right for the country vs what is right for him politically.
He is worthy of your consideration.

"Presidential hopeful and former Kansas City Federal Reserve chairman, Herman Cain, has flipped his position on auditing the Federal Reserve from being “not necessary” to now championing calls for the move.
“Some people say, we ought to audit the Federal Reserve,” Cain said on the Neil Boortz radio show on December 29, 2010. “Here’s what I do know: the Federal Reserve already has so many internal audits, its ridiculous. I don’t know why people think we’re gonna learn this great amount of information from auditing the Federal Reserve.
“There’s no ‘hidden secrets’ going on in the Federal Reserve, to my knowledge,” Cain continued. “and I tell people, you know, we’ve got 12 Federal Reserve banks, find out which district you’re in, call them up and go from there!
“We don’t need to waste money with another ‘commission,’ or an audit that’s not necessary.”
Cain’s statemnt did not sit well with members of the Tea Party, whom the Republican is said to represent, and a growing consenus within the Party against a loose monetary policy. Online conservative magazine World Net Daily labeled Cain an “elite bankster” who “is far too financially and economically dubious to be given any serious thought as a conservative presidential candidate.”
In an attempt to quell growing distrust, Cain issued a new video that praised Texas Republican, Ron Paul, for his calls to audit the Fed.
“I am thankful to representative Ron Paul for his consistant and steady pressure on the Federal Reserve,” Cain said. “and as chairman of the Subcommitte of Domestic Monetary Policy, he will have oversight of the activities of the Federal Reserve, including, the ability to require an audit of the Federal Reserve Bank. Congressional oversight, and not more commissions appointed by the president, will bring more accountability to the Federal Reserve on behalf of the American people.”

We should praise our leaders when they listen and change their position. MitchMcConnell rightly switched to oppose highly corrupting earmarks. Perry rightly switched on several issues when the people objected in a big way: TransTexasCorridor, HPV-Gardasil, SanctuaryCities(unfortunately, but had to).
Did anybody see ObamaPelosiReid respond to the healthcare reform outcry? NOOOOO! "The little people don't know what's good for them. We'll ram it through with political bribes!"

"Cain, who was the deputy chairman of the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City from 1992-1994 and the chairman from 1995-1996, repeated that sentiment during a town hall meeting on January 15, 2011. Arguing that the independent corporation already has many internal audits and regulates itself, Cain advised Tea Party members who brought up the issue to call their local bank and find for themselves about the institution."

" Herman Cain was once one of TARP's strongest supporters. In fact, he still thinks the idea was a good one, in theory anyway.
Cain acknowledges this could be an issue.
"If they want to nail me with my support for TARP -- you know what? I'm not going to be able to counter that," Cain told TPM in a wide-ranging interview last weekend. "Here's what we will do -- we will have a spot on our website that says, 'if you really want to know the truth about my position on TARP, go look at this two-minute video.' If they choose not to, I can't change that."

No "take the road of political expediency he." We who have heard Herman Cain on the radio, for years, know of his personal integrity. This is a genuine Conservative who believes in America's exceptionalism, values the small businessman, and will do just fine by us as President of our United States. No, he is not a political flannel-mouth, but we've had that for too many years and we know, now, from our cuts and bruses how awful that has and continues to worked against us and our future as an economically successful Republic.
