Without the "new media" this story would never have been told. The New York Times had a story today about Jones resigning, and blamed Republicans and conservatives. The reporter pointed out that Jones had said he was sorry about past statements. So what was the big deal? Behind closed doors the Obama folks are working on doing away with the "New Media". The New York Times had not mentioned this Jones story before today.

Why, yes, Mindy, we do have the right to question our elected officials. And that's what happened here: Van Jones got a lot of questions about his views, and then people dug for the answers, and the answers raised more questions.
Rather than answer those questions, Mr. Jones has decided to quit, or he was "counseled" to do so by one of his superiors. Either way, it's clear that rather than stay and fight for his honestly held views, he'd rather slink off in ignominy. Perhaps because those views are not, as he claimed, "lies and distortions," but truly views that he holds?
It's also clear that those views are far, far out of the mainstream of society. The logic is simple: if his views had been mainstream, he'd not have had any difficulty defending them; in fact, it's quite possible he wouldn't have had any need to defend them in the first place. In today's society, one doesn't have to defend the view that the earth revolves around the sun, after all, regardless of how controversial such a view may have been in the past.

However, Jones saw fit to spearhead a boycott against Glenn Beck's advertisers and against Whole Foods because the CEO (who is a Democrat, BTW) had the affrontery to suggest a different approach to ObamaCare. Where is the "green" in that? Plus, Mindy, provided you have a job and pay taxes like the rest of us, YOU helped pay for that.

Why in Gods name should Jones be criticized for signing a petition and speaking freely. He has the right to do so. Only stupid, crazy people believe in far right or far left politics. Anyone intelligent person should realize that mankind has a tendency to be corrupt and that the people who are motivated to be politicians are either power hungry egocentric or sincerely want to make a difference. The only problem is we never get to know the names of the ones who want to make a difference because they are never allowed to get anywhere and slowly become corrupt themselves or leave politics.

I have to say I am surprised they pinched him out. After all, just having him there in the first place is an admission from Osama that yes, I do associate with these kinds of people and no, it wasn't way, way, long ago in the past. I expected him to do what we have become so accustomed to him doing: lie straight out and insist on that lie or play the race card. The fact that he got rid of Jones instead means that his handlers saw him as a real liability as word (outside of MSM) spread about his character and beliefs. Andrew B, wow 50,000 in this economy sounds pretty elitist if you add it up to a lifetime of salary. Also Andrew non for profits can be one of the best scams around. What is it only 10% of its profits that have actually go to the people or cause that the non for profit exists for. Trust me everyone I used to live in Palm Beach where half the town works for the United Way, the American Heart Association, the March of Dimes etc. and they all live in very nice house and the jobs are coveted. So I have to disagree with the idea that just because you work for a non for profit does not make a valid argument to Mindy that you are not the "ogre ' you talk about. If you ever looked at the world average salary maybe you would be bloody grateful for your 50,000 and learn how to grow your own food , buy more creatively, destroy your credit cards and waste less.

Secondly, I was not complaining about my salary, but merely establishing the fact that I am not exactly one of the Robber Baron class.
Third, I believe that I am very much within bounds to believe that it is not too much to ask that someone know the name of a person they are quoting to bolster their argument. The resignation was pure politics. The Prez has an agenda to save, and is desperate to get the entire focus back on his and Pelosi's attempts to get ObamaCare through Congress.
The President has an address to give to a joint session of Congress this week. He and Axelrod are essientially using thier last PR trick to a)put pressure on the so-called Gang of Six (GOP Senators) and b)Get the Gang of Six to join whatever compromise the Senate and House come up with. Can't have some Eco-Green-Jobs Radical much things up.
The news cycle both present and future was evolving into an investigation into Obama's WH hirings. Can't have that. The hope now is the the Jones resignation will reset the news cycle bubble and again allow the Obama WH to dominate the news cycle.

i am glad to see jones gone, not just for all the idiotic things he has said but what him being in that post shows the rest of the country. obama says he loves the constitution then why does he try to circumvent it at every chance he can. there is no way jones should of been in that job, the same as the other czars. and i am curious to see obama supporters when it comes down to their mother or father going up for a major surgery and they cant get the surgery when they need it cause of a lack of funds or a lack of specialized doctors. cuz if this bill passes the way it is there will be many doctors, nurses, and other medical personnel who will lose their jobs.

I left Manhattan 11 months earlier with my 17 month old child and moved to Palm Beach in fear that terrorism would strike NYC. I was right. I figured if I was going to cripple America I would hit it where it hurts Wall Street and NYC which is the center of the world and the US. If you had read the international papers pre 911 Bin laden was telling every one he would strike the US and the US knew it. My Pakistani ex a year before 911 showed me articles in Pakistani newspapers where BIN Laden was bragging that he was going to attack on US soil and do it in a big way. He even gave a time frame. My ex stated at the time" why the hell is the US not taking this guy more seriously when it is right here in print and he is responsible for the Cole? Needless to say 911 happened anyway and ironically my ex's business in NYC took a huge loss because it was right by ground zero. Subsequently after the horrible economic tsunami[ that started under Bush] he now has lost everything. Prior to 911 he was netting a million a year. Ironically it was his commercial photography lab that developed the famous photos of the towers burning. So Don't tell me it is not a possibility that the US did not know the attack was coming cause we did.
And when it comes to socialized medicine I am not for it or against it. The subject is not is not black or white
We are living in an new global world and every country needs to re invent themselves and policies. Why does everyone think in such a limited capacity. I am not French I was born in NYC. My family fought on John Paul Jones ship and my Grandfather was Woodrow Wilson's cousin. My great Uncle wrote the State theme song of a US state that they play at every basketball game in that state. I just love France what is not to love? Are you going to say the Architure is not magnificent? The food not divine/The language not beautiful. The woman not sexy?If you say no to any of the above then you have never been there. I worked there modeling and as a makeup artist and fashion writer all expenses paid. You might have experiences like this one day if you opened your mind and were able to have a conversation and a creative flare that attracted worldly people. And "Patriot Games' am not the one stuck in the US. I can live on my investments in a country were the dollar gets me a lot more then back at home.

My friend has an economics degree from the Wharton Business School. He is a Conservative fiscally.
